Ultimate transmission upgrade for turbo 8's

My 2nd gear is starting to grind.

What tranny's are the high HP 8's using?

I would love to get a kit that adapts a 6speed T56 to our cars.

Mazsport has been working on a bolt on 2nd gen and 3rd gen transmission kit for our car.

Charles is working on getting all new upgraded internals for the rx8 transmission.

I dont like the idea of losing my 6th gear.

I guess my only option is to wait for Charles.

the fd 5 speed tranny is better geared than your rx8 one is for a turbo car.

Good point.

Would it not be hard to find a perfect FD tranny?

There is an internal tech bulletin for the part number. I have it at home, but somebody might be able to post it up. It was a stiffer shift fork.

stock rx8 transmissions? rather than power, I measure it in time. Mine started having grinding issues at 32,000 miles. And I had changed transmission fluid once a year and never dropped the clutch on it.

are 2nd gears usually weak on mazdas?
The wife and I owned a 2000 miata LS before the 8 and 2nd would be a bit rough until the tranny fluid was nice and warm. Now I understand grinding or wierd engagment sometimes can occur if the fluid isnt warmed up but it just shifted wierd sometimes and I feel the same with the 8 when I shift to 2nd sometimes.
I usually dont hit 2nd in the morning until ive arrived to my work exit.

I had my tranny rebuilt just a month ago because 2nd gear would grind occasionally. It was an intermittent problem, it was so up and down that sometimes I could power shift it at 8500, and other times it would grind just doing a gradual easy shift at 4500.

The mechanic at the dealership that rebuilt my tranny was saying it happened most often because of people trying to shift too quickly for the double syncros in 2nd and 3rd gears.

T56 is the way to go. Cheap and will take the power.

If you guys are intrested in a t56 kit for the rotary?

Do let me know. Will talk to my fab guy to make some.

i will have to check that out. would that be a warranty repair? when cold, my 2nd gear pretty much always grinds on low rpm shifts.

Hell yeah

Viper tranny here I come!

What exactly would be included in the kit? I would imagine the driveshaft needs to be replaced.
