The estimated power out put is 50hp and 35lbs torque. But thats just for starters... More powerful turbos will come :D On a personal note I am very excited to have joined this website I have found quite a bit of useful information so far...

Dont hold your breath people. I am a distributor for large companies including HKS, Blitz and Trust Jpn and so far the only person who has actually commited to forced induction so far is trust. Blitz had talked about building a supercharger system but never got past talk..

there are pictures of the Blitz supercharger mounted in car. I think they did more than talk. I have also heard rumors of an HKS FI effort, though they are just that...rumors.

here's to wishful thinking! :D

So... does this mean that HKS is working with Mazda or your friend is just in on inside info at HKS? It would be much cooler if it is HKS with Mazda for obvious reasons...

If they did come out with a turbo it would be a limited production model like the Mazdaspeed. IMO there's no way they would launch a production factory turbo.

Yes, and when I was a teenager I told all of my friends I had a girlfriend in Alaska. Oddly it was convenient that she was out of reach and I had no photos or other proof of this mystery person.

Seriously though, welcome, but this is a tough pill to swallow without proof.

All of the bigger japanese companies are working with mazda.. they have from since before the launch of the car. HKS has even gone as far as sketches of bodykits and looks theyd like to do with their rx8. Where are the pictures of the blitz kit? I was told nothing ever happened past the talking..

Paulie is going to love this one...

...you know that button between Calander and FAQ? Press it.

ok, I'll be nice this time and give you one of the many threads that pop up when you search for "blitz supercharger"

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...z+supercharger

this one even includes a picture of the Trust turbo

Let's just say there were a handful of aftermarket companies selling turbochargers or superchargers for the RX-8. How many of us here would be ready to spend upwards of US$5K on this system? And even if that happened, what are the chances of any of those kits being street legal?

If the emissions legality of such an upgrade is not an issue, then couldn't anyone just come along and slap a Garret turbo, Spearco intercooler, wastegate, GReddy BOV, fluid plumbing, custom headers, and some muffler shop piping together to make their own custom turbo setup?

I know it sounds simplistic, but the end result is similar to buying of those hyped up HKS/Blitz/GReddy/etc kits. Isn't it?

Hey Alex, you know that thing between your ears and two things above your nose, use them. :o :D

Seriouisly though... I got the impression OrigMiniViper is saying MAZDA is making a factory production turbo using HKS. He did say he spoke with a Mazda mechanic and said "production". If so, I stick by my posts.

If he is saying HKS is making a turbo kit, then why is this big news? There are plenty of companies working on turbos/blowers.

Hey OrigMiniViper, what are you saying here?

Where have you been?? Been done over and over. There are pics [b]I[\b] post from JDM rotary tuner magazines. In addition ANYONE could have gone to see it at Tokyo Auto Salon. The Blitz kit in development is a proven fact. As is Trust/GReddy's turbo and their A/T turbo built in conjunction with RE Amemiya and Knight Sports' supercharger. HKS? This is the first I've heard of it... I didn't see anything about it in the last issue of RX-7 Magazine. I didn't get the current one yet, so let me check it again to be sure... but all I saw from HKS in that was the Racing Suction Intake...

Factory turbo? I doubt it. For the next gen 7 they are looking at a electric assisted turbo... basically the problem with turbos is emissions. They flunk 'em. Nissan has the same problem and possible solution for the next gen Skyline GTR. So like I said... a factory turbo for the 8? As they say in Japanese... "arienai!" (unspeakable/impossible/unheard of)

The big issue with making your own kit is that a "kit" is all set and many times tuned. The maker has done the dyno/tuning work for you... so for you it's basically just plug and play.

Emissions? I'd say the turbos will fail and the S/C may be ok.

Cost? The kits are trageted at under 400,000 JPY... plus installation yes. But not so horribly priced.

Warranty? If you install one of these FI kits.. "what warranty?" will be the topic of the day.

First of all, I'm 35. Second, if I would guess anybody is 13 here it would be you from your grammar. The first two sentences in the above paragraph make zero sense.

The girlfriend in Alaska thing is a joke/analogy (meaning you're making a big claim and offering no proof) and I don't think I was being cocky or snobish to anyone except Alex because he was having some fun jabbing me from something that happened on another thread and I was having some fun jabbing back.

Finally, no one really seems to know what your thread means (are you claiming it's a factory turbo or aftermarket kit?) which is why I asked you to explain it. What was cocky or snobbish about that?

To lessen some confusion my keyboad isnt 100% new coffie has that affect once it gets in to it. : )
Good ole kona coffie :-p anyhow I understand that u are confused paulie so I'll elaborate for you...
I do have a good friend at mazda Yes....
He has seen Hks prototype of the new turbo(sorry I do Not have any pics) For myself I would also love to see this...
I trust this guy wit my life and dont (in my wildest dreams) think that he would make up such facades. However MAZDA(dont get lost now) MAZDA as in MAZDASPEED development team, have already Completed their turbo kit and are under testing until when?(I dont know) Am told they are planning on relesing it this comming November 04.:D

Okay that clears things up. You didn't mention it was Mazdaspeed which just confirms what I said in my first post. I didn't think Mazda would be offering a factory turbo unless it was on a limited production model like a Mazdaspeed version.

Time for a new keyboard :D

EDIT: Hey Alex, now what was that about the button between Calander and FAQ? :o :D

I'd HAPPILY pay $5-7K for a factory-approved S/C or turbo, provided that the gain was worth the dosh.

Yeah I would also pay for 5-7k for a factory turbo. One because it's legal and also I wont have problem with emmission.

I have over 400whp on my Eclipse and I have to go through great lenghts to get around my smog test. If there's no factory turbo coming, then I'll wait for Trust/Greddy. I think they are legal.

The GReddy kits are usually smog legal, but it takes them 2-3 years to get that endorsement. For example, the VQ35 and KA24 kits are relatively new releases even though they were announced 3 years ago. So for the 8, I would expect a similar wait.

the C&D special on the RX-8's pre-release magazine, at the end of the booklet, they featured HKS's story about building the FI kit for the RX-8. They even had an illustration of what the RX-8 would look like from the outside. Pretty cool design. I should scan it someday and post it here, but my scanner is a pain.
