Re the 90* bend - no way you're fitting a filter there without the bend.

here some pics of what my layout its gonna look like. once the battery its out of there ill have plenty space to work
the snail its gonna be sitting lower than the i/c, the compressor outlet pipe its gonna come out strait and its gonna connect to the i/c inlet that u dont see in picture 1. the inlet piping of the compressor its gonna follow the same path of the out let pipe but ill come out through the intake box whole to the bumper.
or at least thats what am planing on doing

Interesting. I thought the dual screens before the MAF helped eliminate that, so that the bend would be irrelevant.

in a FI the 90* bend helps with turbulence, remember that now u have the snail sucking air through the MAF. i might be wrong dough.

A 90* bend won't help with turbulence... What does help in the pics above is the long stretch of straight pipe right before the MAF

I probably missed this, but what are you going to do with the air pump?

If you can get by without the bend that's great but I doubt you can fit a filter in that location without the bend..

oh i know that for a fact ill need at least one 90* bend for the filter. but at least i wont have to run another 90* before the MAF.

Gotcha.. Yeah that picture above is pretty much the best setup you can have for air intake. Cold air + long pipe in front of the MAF for laminar flow

What you guys are failing to mention is that pipe is 3". That means the MAF is scaled incorrectly and you would need to rescale it via a reflash or step up to a 3.5" MAF tube. The step up to a 3.5" MAF tube is going to kill any laminar flow you have established with the long pipe. Ask me how I know...

Sick you should ave stuck with my design.
wouldn't have to deal with all the cramped space in the engine bay.
That turbo is smaller in size, and would fit much easier under the car.

Good luck with your build though. It is always cool to see people engineer stuff on their own.

I accidentally deleted that avatar. And didn't have a copy of the file at work. So no mo ****load. In fact there is no more boost at all, well not until sometimes next week, when CRH and I are done with the rebuild and drive it around some to make sure all is nice and peachy.
I can't wait. So tired of driving slow vehicles.

sup rocks . yeah its gonna be really cramped in there for sure. i might modify the manifold to change the location of the snail and steal some space for a bigger snail in the future, since am moving the battery to the trunk but ill see about that when its in there and i start test fitting everything.
whats up with ur build ur build?

You'll be fine with this turbo.
I wasn't trying to say that the turbo I have is bigger and better, but rather that dimension wise yours takes less space than mine, and would fit under the car completely painlessly. I haven't measured, but just by looking at a t70 it is probably at least an 1" wider on the cold side. Just the inlet alone is 4" wide.

Let me know if you need help making that downpipe.

i know this will blow more than enough air, but ill like to keep that option open. also i wanna muve it away from the motor a lil bit. but like i said i need to start test fitting everything first.
today ill move the battery to the trunk and see what i get left with

there will be plenty of room to fit the turbo once tha battery is out of the way.
it is running the down pipe back down through the maze of coolant hoses and stuff, that's gonna be tricky.

yeah that gonna be the hardest part of the whole build.
now let me get to move the battery to the trunk, and get the engine clear of everything that needs to come out.

its a whole lot more then what i actually expected to get done, just to much between taking care of the animals, my daughters BD and work. but
by next week ill be able to focus more time in it,
mean while ill have time to think about my emu options. ill love to get my hands on the Cobb AP but on the other hand the EFIdude looks tenting at only 300bucks. inputs from anyone running boost with eather one of them are welcome
