i've got a really nice exedy setup, but we'd have to swap in the fd tranny to use the pull clutch. hey, i happen to have an fd tranny laying around too. find a counterweight, and we can go crackhead style all night and get you ready for the dyno tomorrow with a 5-speed :D
i do have ACT prolite already. the GT shop's going to install an exedy stage1 clutch kit on my car tomorrow. i like to do both of the installs at once but can't put the flywheel in without the counterweight...

mmm... what to do what to do...

just do the clutch if you can get it done in time for the dyno. the flywheel won't change the tuning, so you can always do it later. scott is only here for a limited time.

couple of questions for the Scott / NA guys involved in todays festivities:

1. Why can't ignition advance go below 5 on the ignition idle screen? I can set ingition to 0 on every other screen.

2. Do you guys have issues getting the car to cruise at high afrs in 6th gear (like 14.7 - 15.0) ? I've subtracted fuel in the rpmcruise map at all the load points I could possibly cruise at, but it seems like any little road variation or elevation change knocks the afr down into the low 13's....i can't figure out what I'm missing, unless the stock wideband isn't reading accurately. on a glass smooth flat surface, it will then cruise at high afrs, but I can see how just cruising around my neighborhood would through it off the cruise map.

any other NA thoughts or changes to Scotts stock maps that worked well?

Results!

Just back to the hotel from the tuning sessions. Big thanks to Sam at GTmotoring for saving the day, good equipment, smart staff, two up!!! If you need work in CA, this is one place I personally would suggest. 2 Greddy turbo cars, 1 N/A six speed, the first automatic RX-8 equipped with the Interceptor-X(stock car with just the ECU swap) and everyone made increases in performance. Richard Paul made an appearance and the initial tuning sessions went well. I think everyone learned somthing about tuning the RX-8 and although I am worn out, I must say I enjoyed the session and it was a pleasure hanging out and working with everyone in attendance. I will post comparison runs A.S.A.P. until then thanks for your interest in the continued development of a better performing RX-8 and goodnight. Scott

The 7000-9000 rpm fuel tables were moved from 14.0 to 13.5 and this car prefered it that way. There is a user definable minimum timing value field, change that to "0". The RPMCRS value sounds as if it needs to be lowered to a value< 15", if you toe in the throttle then the ECU no loner looks at the cruise tables it thinks you are accelerating. Scott

Scott,

your comments about the 7000-9000 tables were in response to my last question about general NA thoughts or changes to the stock maps correct?

275 @ 7.5 psi, and 260 @ 10 psi?

sounds like the difference between a dynojet and dd, or mustang dyno. definately more reason to tune your car on the same dyno all the time--the number doesn't matter, it's the % gain you're looking for.

it was good meeting all you guys yesterday!

My car was 190 on Saturday's run and 185 whp on Sunday's run at GT Motorsports. By comparison I was making 175 whp the week before. Graphs and comparison runs will be posted shortly. I think that Scott has all the files and will give them to us soon. We can then take those files and run comparisons with the Dynojet software... If he doesnt post up a comparison that we wanted to see, I will have the raw dynojet files so I will be able to post up anything that we would like.

Scott said that another 8 whp could be had if my cat wasnt there. I do have the RP Supercat and will consider eliminating the cat at a later point to see how this changes the curve. Up top it does flatten out a bit and I think that more can be had if my cat was gone.

Heck, just elimating the silencers from my TurboXS exhaust system picked up 3 peek hp!!!!

Nuts!! Not to mention some hp gains were also realized under the curve...

surprised he thinks the high flow cat is still that much of a restriction.

It truly is if you consider that the silencers are straight through and I picked up 3 peek hp and some under the curve...

That really blew me away. The turboxs exhaust is just unbelievably loud without the silencers though...

it was nice to see you all finally this wknd.

we should go rent track for a day just for us 8 owners someday. of course, sammy would have to leave his tires at home to make it somewhat fair.. and of course... that would have to be quite a few paychecks later.
I agree! It was very nice meeting all of you as well. Your right though. Sammy definitely has the edge in suspension.. We'll have to come up with an ingenious way of keeping everything close. Maybe he can drive with the boost controller off and put on tires with a tread wear rating of over 400.. That would make it more fair...

Although, the way that you were driving on the streets the other day, I am sure that you and I could take him..

We should definitely set something up. I am all about track days and love them. Murix and others would be up for it too. It seemed like he enjoyed the track as much as I do.

For those following this thread and any thread for that matter related to the Int-x, I created a new one and posted up my initial impressions.

It can be found here....

Sign me up for a track day. I am about to pick up some new tires and my pads are ready to go on as well.
