Temperature Question(s) (turbocharged)
Okay, so I tried postin this in the proper area but apparently I don't have permissions to do so I'm posting my question here.
After tryin some searches and still not getting the answers I'm quite looking for I'm asking in a thread. I have an 04 8 and it has a Greddy Turbo on it (i'm sure that makes a difference). Also it was about 100 degrees out. I'm not sure as to normal operating temps but yesterday I got in my baby to take her for a spin, hit some redlines and just give her a good drive. The previous owner told me that the normal op temp for this car is 190-200 generally and 210 is pushing it. Well when I got down on her (I named her RoXy) and got up to about 100mph, cruised at that for a sec then brought her down to normal driving ranges. The temp went up to 236, cooled down but after stayed at around 210 - 218. (218 when the A/C is on).
Are there any problems with that or am I just being paranoid. Also if you have cooling suggestions that would be appreciated as I'm still playing catch up to learn how my baby operates and her in's and outs. And to what all has been modded on her.

236F is a big problem. Anything over 220F and you risk damaging the coolant seals. You need to go over the entire cooling system. There are many threads addressing that issue so search for them and figure out a plan of action.

Symptoms listed, Solution Suggestion?
Okay so my 2004 rx8 is seeming to run a little hot. 236 i hit the other day ( i was gettin down on it pretty hard) I have a greddy turbo, its water cooled. i have a little oil spill on the ground under the car and the idle drops below 1k RPM sittin then pops right back up. Help?

yeah, don't do that again. Hopefully you still have a water seal. How were you reading your water temp? OE OBD2 or an external sensor. If external chances are you temp was higher than what you think... as much as 20 degrees hotter, maybe even more.
I would start with a full cooling system flush, ideally a back flush.
Test your thermostat and replace if necessary.
The REmedy water pump will certainly help with flow.
BHR resells a really nice radiator.
Swap out all your hoses while you're at it.

What kind of info do you need?
And I was monitoring coolant temp with acessport.
It has a remedy water pump. Radiator as well.
Think it has anything to do with being 100 degrees outside? I live in the desert. Right now since I haven't gotten it into the shop. I've cleaned the air filter and the maf. It heats up a ton quicker and by ten degrees just by turning on the ac. Also don't know if it's related but it's having a rpm drop at idle like it wants to stall. Especially with ac on

I routinely see 100F temps and I have to push it to get to over 210F. I am also turbocharged with cooling mods. Something is wrong with your cooling system if you are seeing those temps.

Well that's not good. We'll my next step is to flush the coolant and put in 80/20 water/coolant with water wetter and I'm going to put the oil at 5/40. Would the coolant jug sensor have any affect? Do the plugs and coils have anything to do with temp?

Is the radiator new? Mazmart pump new? Thermostat new? Any leakage or coolant loss? Hoses in good shape? No the coils and plugs have nothing to do with it. Does the car run okay otherwise?

Otherwise the car runs great. I still have a full coolant tank so no leakage as far as can be told. All the hoses seem to be fine. I'll check again though. I really think it's a sensor somewhere cause everything is almost new. Has a REmedy water pump. The radiator hoses are fine, don't see any damages to the radiator itself either. I have noticed, and it may be be a useful the temp is at normal when I turn it off but the fan doesn't run when I kill it like usual

Well, first test your fans. They don't always run after shutdown but if your coolant temps are high, they should be running on high. The only sensor that would matter would be the Coolant temp sensor and if that were bad it would cause other issues. But it's cheap anywhere so just replace it for the good measure. When was the last time the coolant was flushed?

normally i would do things the old fashioned way, trial and error. but i'm not back home with my dads and my shop will all the tools i could ever need. now i'm on a base limited money to buy stuff cause i don't have extra parts laying around. makes diagnostics much harder. I do know that the sensor in the bottom of the coolant overflow jug is gummed up and throwing a code cause of it.

I knew you had to be a Marine,
Okay let the Sailor who was born in 29 Palms help you,
Click on Engine, then symptom troubleshooting, then No. 17 (Cooling system concerns-overheating).
You just have to check everything as outlined. You may need help checking the electronics though.

okay. thanks. crazy you were born here. i'd say sorry but i wouldnt want to offend anyone. lol. i can't stand it. i'm from Alabama. i wanna go back to the east coast, buuuut, back to the issues. if there's seems to be nothing wrong with the radiator. everything seems to be fine but obviously isn't. what are our possibilities? make myself a checklist and check em off one by one or fix em all.
edit, or i can just look at this nifty site you just directed me to
