I wasn't trying to call Chet out for his absence.:) Given the weather, personal safety is more important. Then again, I am a hard-core idiot who is willing to drive his 8 through anything just to meet up with real-life people and share some pizza.:lol2: Oh, yeah, and help install mods, too.......

Hey, it was very important to keep the blue chair warm! Who would have done it if I hadn't? :)

And you know you would have missed the pearls of wisdom I shared, like the importance of lip spoilers and the divinity of the stuff written on this website.

I may have been laying under the car or under the hood most of the time but I heard every word of those conversations!:lol2: Givin' Tommy a hard time about his trunk spoiler.......:icon_no2:

Well, I did some more work last night and figured out how to fix the biggest fitment issue. I'm not going to post the solution here but it is now fixed. I also made some wiring changes for the OMP and I may be able to use the sohn adapter now!

I contacted PTP about the wastegate flange and they are going to make the necessary changes and ship another one to me. After I verify the fix I will return the one I have. They are also going to fix the coupling issue I ran into. Their customer service continues to be excellent. I expected issues being that my kit is the first kit shipped and they are doing everything necesary to fix any problems.

Doesn't look like the turbo blanket will make it on...but one thought I had was since your old man is a fabricator/welder, maybe he'd have an idea on how to heat and slightly bend the turbo forward a bit to give you the little more clearance you need all the while maintaining structural integrity...I don't think this would affect your oil drain or feed either. Maybe you'd need to fab the compressor discharge pipe a little also...

I found that the turbo blanket fits just fine when installed properly. I played with that on Sunday and have at least 1/2 inch clearance between it and the pully. Thats plenty of room because as the motor moves so does the turbo...

Ah, good stuff...before bolted down and all it really didn't look like you were going to have the space...that's easy!

Not really. We had plenty of issues crop up. Thats what happens when you try to change soo many things at once. Crap just don't fit like its supposed to...

chetrickerman 01-22-2008 11:47 AM

wow. how much did you get done?

We got a lot done. Didn't install all of the turbo kit but installed everything else. Some things got installed multiple times. Once I get everything I should be able to install everything else in a day or 2.

mac11 01-22-2008 12:27 PM

it can wait. just give me a call at your leisure.

Yes, but we established that the "ridges" on the carbon fiber cause increased drag. If you had, oh say fiberglass for your lip spoiler instead you'd get about 30 whp. But thanks to your lady, you've got enough carbon fiber stuff that you probably get that 30 hp anyway. But just think if your lip spoiler was fiberglass...

I am happy to report that the blue chair told me that my butt was critical to its survival. If I had not kept it warm, it said it might have leapt into the propane heater, burning itself to death and ruining our heat source in the process. So don't all thank me at once....

Chet - I thought you couldn't join the army because of your back problems? Good luck, although you are crazy to give up that job you have... I'm sure a lot of people would kill for a job at a place like that :)

(Sorry for the threadjacking, tdiddy!)

I got soo mad last night while trying to figure out what was wrong with one piece of the piping that I almost jumped into the propane heater.

I got the Greddy Relocation Kit Installed and decided to use one of the holes for my oil feed line to my turbo. I also got a package from Mazsport so I decided to do a test fit to see how it looks. Another Mazsport package has already shipped and should arrive early this week. :)

I just about have everything I need to finish...:beerchug:

That is a rather inventive location for the filter, I must say. Lookit all that room for the feed hoses!

tdiddy 02-02-2008 08:35 PM

Yes, I had to remove the UIM again to get it right but it seems to fit nicely.

Are you being sarcastic or maybe patting your self on the back? :) I don't see a difference from the location it was first installed.
