Does anyone know of any in-tank fuel pump upgrades for the RX8? I'd rather not use an external pump if I don't have to!

hey dude, i replaced my stock pump with a walbro. it will fit just fine, well maybe once u put the rubber gasket circle thing back on, then it be kinda tight. but thats ok cuz extra seal is better. just open the pump casing and everythin should be simple. also u have to splice wires and make sure u use heat shrinkin tube to cover it all up. anything else just ask me. bye for now

Would definitely like to know which pump you ended up using; I've converted my system to return-based with external FPR so need to get rid of the stock pump asap! Did you use the FD walbro drop-in?

 

By the way, is the only way to get to the pump using the mazda tool to remove the big plastic circular casing from the tank?

 

The Mazsport pump is actually a plug and play kit that uses the factory connectors and lines. The system utilizes a rising rate regulator and converts the factory system to a return system. The pump is a proven reliable unit and will support more than 400rwhp in rotary applications. Because we have done most of the work it requires about 1.5-2 hours for the complete install, we have them in stock and ready to ship! On a side note, Mazsport does NOT use Walbro pumps.

well for me its a 10 min job to remove it but for a first timer, it may take half a day to do it. make sure u remove it carefully and disconnect everything

 

yea, i just replaced stock pump wit walbro and put it back in the staock pump casin. how did u make urs a return system? could i just stick a nipple on top of my fuel pump system and add a really long fuel line to the front?

 

Which Walbro unit was it ?
And are you getting much more fuel pressure/Supply ?

 

i justed typed in supra fuel pump and walbro poped up on ebay so i got it for my car. and i think my car is runnin richer but not sure if the walbro had anything to do wit it.

 

Is it the Walbro GSS-342 Pump ? or the GSS 341 ?.Or something else?

 

i didnt kno there were different kind of walbro......hmmm i just watever came up on ebay. sorry if i wasnt much help

 

i heard that Walbro pumps may not be very dependable. From reliable source. But that is only an opinion. I wish more choices where out there. Mazsports kit looks real good and I may end up with that.
