MM: can you hold the PR of 2 all the way to 9krpm? I just interested in what sort of boost the renesis can handle.

The Renesis can "hold" about as much boost as you can fuel.
That isn't really a valid question.
You can use the Rotary Math spreadsheet to figure out the limits yourself.

I don't run it out to 9k - the Renesis has a pretty sharp drop in VE after 7600 RPM - but the turbo is still doing its thing at that point.
I'm usually on my way to the next gear by 8400 RPM.

yes the question was to broad and open ended. it's like how long is a piece of string.

I'm still coming to terms with your rotary math spread sheet and at this point I don't think it can deliver an answer to my question (if fuel is neglected, since it is essentially limitless IMO).

No SC on the '8; only on my MX-3 and my older Miata (not including the old American iron I was playing with in the '80s).

I used a Vortec centrifugal on the MX-3 and an Eaton on the Miata.

what would happen if you put a small supercharger on the pipe going from the header to the turbo to pump a small amount of air into the turbo. would that eliminate the turbo lag? the air would already be there.....right?

still new please be nice

why do a search? you guys were talking about this two pages previous in this thread. its just a simple question.......why not have a device that pumps a little bit of air into the turbo so it eliminates the lag. kind of like a mini sc. unless they already make something like that. the question wasnt directed at anyone. but it is a serious question that i would like an anwser to.

thanks for the compound charging, i really wouldnt know where to start even looking into something like that.

i know you guys know alot and im just getting my feet wet. and you tell alot of people search! but honestly something like this i would not even know what to search for. just try to remember when you guys started tuning and didnt know all that much thats where im at now and i greatly appreciate all the info and patience. thing is im getting ready to go FI and i dont know all that much and i just want to be as informed as possible before i go sc or tc. i dont want to damage anything.

thanks

ricky you should definitely look at the wiki link that was posted here on turbo charges to make sure you are using the terms correctly.

ricky...just to be newb friendly...and becuase i dont have a sweet-*** pic to tease you with i'll give you a quick answer...

while you could do something like that...it would only add complexity to an already complex system...with complexity comes less reliability and a higher chance something could go wrong..

also if you read up on turbo systems now-a-days youll find that the snails themselves have gotten better and lag is almost a thing of the past on a properly designed system. that said it really doesnt need anything...back in the day i remember hearing guys who would "spank" the turbo w/ no2 (naaawwwwzzz for those who like to say that word)...

getting back to my main reason...reduction of complexity should be a major part of any design...an elegant solution exists for everything...sometimes its just hard to find...

i'm still debating myself what i am going to ultimately do...i like the axial flow...but turbos give you flexibility which i also love...

i might just flip a coin in the end...

Wait 'til Ricky finds out why the World Rally cars inject fuel in the turbine.

MM Im not sure about this or not, but didnt you build your own turbo?

Though I cant decide whether to go with the AFSC or a turbo when the time comes
Also would you consider a turbo a specialized sc to some degree? <--I know that is a noob question and Im probably going to get chewed out for it, but Im just curious.
