The car is up and running, still waiting for dyno

Brettus 10-04-2013 02:08 AM

If we see a decent dyno in within the next 6 months I'll be very surprised .

ELI063 11-05-2013 03:04 PM

Bump for update

J8635621 11-05-2013 10:03 PM

I heard they hit 600whp

yomomspimp06 11-05-2013 10:19 PM

not sure if serious or trolling

Dyno results are finally in and it is rear wheel HP. I was sceptical however, the results are there for all to see. They are still short of the 500 however, they are still working on the tune. It looks like that they will get there. Here is a video of the dyno https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v...type=2&theater

Hub dyno to roller dyno usually shows 40-50 whp difference.

So factoring that in at 427 hp, they are close to 377 whp on a roller dyno. Which is still a good #.. But at 19psi that engine is gonna pop on the dyno, not sure though the trans might go first.

Stray 11-13-2013 03:31 PM

427 on the hub isn't half bad for an auto with a stock exhaust :o

skc 11-13-2013 03:36 PM

I would have thought the auto transmission would have already popped. It seems that must have done some sort of upgrade as they are quite weak in stock form.

yomomspimp06 11-13-2013 03:40 PM

well, I guess I shouldn't have been a naysayer. I'm going to look back through this build. The low mount is sex

9krpmrx8 11-13-2013 03:42 PM

Not bad, lets see it on the strip. I hope it lasts longer than a few dyno runs.

skc 11-14-2013 04:05 AM

It will be interesting to see the long term reliability. However, the builder has a good track record with the RX8 SP development that was a clear success.

pdxhak 11-14-2013 08:56 AM

320+ whp on a 4 port is kicking some ass. Did they post the AFRs? Like you guys are thinking at 19psi it is likely going to pop.

9krpmrx8 11-14-2013 09:47 AM

Yeah it is good to see them experimenting but for 30K AUS..... My buddy is selling his show level 20B Turbo RX8 for 43k.

Jeeez 30k? Thats like 28k USD You could swap a REW in for less... Not sure what these guys are thinking.

yomomspimp06 11-14-2013 10:29 AM

Let's be optimistic here guys.

Why? Who does that help?

9krpmrx8 11-14-2013 10:42 AM

It's good progress, I want to see how it plays out but there is no reason to be optimistic since even if they succeed it will mean very little for us.

pdxhak 11-14-2013 11:15 AM

I forgot they are offering a turn key solution. $30k is still a lot of cash for a 1.3l grenade ;)

Slidin8 11-14-2013 01:57 PM

The price is rediculous. Its just not worth it. Theres a great shop where I live in nz who offer a turn key 400hp rew swap for $15k.

skc 11-16-2013 06:11 AM

I think it is good value as a lot of upgrades have gone into the build. It is not a simple build and a lot on ancillary bits have been added,

not sure on both accounts

thunderberk 11-16-2013 02:01 PM

They hit 427 whp not hp @ dynapack they got that number on wheels !

The Pac Performance 'Project 500 RX8' has been put through its paces on the dyno for the first time with great results.

There are still a few bugs to sort out but things are looking very positive with the car putting out a solid 427rwhp at 19psi on pump EFlex E85. That's through the factory automatic gearbox and full exhaust! (The dyno fan is almost louder than the car LOL)

Stay tuned for a full update on the build soon on our website www.pacperformnce.com.au

That kind of power on a 4 port engine is pretty impressive.
but its all about the details, I wish the community wasn't so "Secretive"

I mean how much porting did they do?

did you notice the turbo didn't have a wheel in it?

did they us OEM size apex seals? Groove out the rotors for deeper seals? use rx7 rotors?

looking at the video and seeing the different dyno curves 0:52 it looks like a really slow spool.

so maybe its a completely different turbo then posted pictures.

what is the timing like? afr's like? could they be doing something fundamentally different then what we consider normal for a tune? especially sense most of the information people base there conceived power output stems from tunes made by MM who has sense been banned, and failed miserably at some recent boosted cars....

I don't think there is enough build information to say what it can and can't make. I wouldn't be surprised if it was fitted with rx7 rotors and had a huge laggy turbo on it....

skc 11-16-2013 06:42 PM

I like how it looks and sounds like a stock car
