4 port is going to give you a lot more midrange torque and therefore feel more fun to drive on the street vs 6 port. It will also be more reliable in the long run since you don't have to rev it to the moon to make any power out of it.

If your comparing stock to stock yes but a 4 port allows you to actually port the thing properly.

Their is not such things as "properly" porting on a RENESIS, you are still limited by your exhaust ports which nothing can be done about.
|
@ 28k might as well get a 3 rotor and have money left for wheels and a skank from back page Not to mention it's automatic -_-.
cool to see/know it was done. |

Yes, but then it wouldn't be a RENESIS anymore
We all know how to do it, but the fact remains it was not done on this build. |

Ok, then back to my original point. Look how much torque he made with the 4 port and where the powerband is. 5,500 RPM to 8,000 RPM with 350 foot/pounds of torque vs what the turbo 6 ports make.
There isn't enough difference in port timing on the (stock) 4 port to make any significant difference . They are practically the same engine up to 6300 rpm , after which the 6 port is superior . If that engine were a 6 port running the same boost and fuel the power curve would be much the same to 6500 , after which it would keep going straight up to around 500. Plus anyone that has any sense limits the rpm on a turbo 6 port to about what that 4 port is running ....... |
Any updates on this build?

It's $14500nz ( $12200au ) for a drive in drive out 400+ REW swap ( inc fresh engine ) at RX7Heaven and that has plenty more power potential
I don't see how this Renny upgrade is worth it when you can REW swap for so much less |

Swap out the housings for 13b-gslse housings and make a custom 5 port manifold. Think outside the box, don't just say nothing can be done... At the same time you could also semi-pp that housing with zero porting. Boom lots a horsepower on a stock block while solving the side seal heat problem at the same time lol. Though you would have to resort to full height apex seals due to the extra heat.

The Pac Performance 'Project 500' RX8 continues to develop as we move forward onto the oil and fuel side of things as well as finishing up the cooling system.
As you can see in this photo, part of the beauty of the Pac Performance ‘Stage4’ RX8 upgrade is that even with the engine covers off, the turbo is pretty much hidden out of site… http://www.pacperformance.com.au/Art...d8c0a9a0f5.jpg With the turbo being mounted so low an external oil scavenge pump has been fitted, plumbed into the turbos oil return. |
any updates?
