S2/S1 Irons compatibilty

I cracked my front iron at the top dowel pin. I've read that the S2 front irons have more reinforcement in the casting at that upper dowel. Is the S2 Front iron compatible with the rest of the S1 motor parts? Is it worth me trying to track down down one of those irons for another shot at getting my car back on the road? I reckon I'm just barely at the power threshold to crack it in the first place. So if the S2 plate is say 15-20% stronger then that should be fine I'm thinking.

I'm sure someone on here has done this right?

No matter. Even FD plates crack. The solution is 1/2" studs + boring the holes for them.

I have both S1 & S2 front irons so I checked this. Both are exact same min thickness around ft dowell, so whoever told you that is.............. wrong.
