That seems ridiculous - and a waste of money. There's no marketability for a car like that, so the most you'd probably ever sell it for is $50K.

For $110,000, I'd much rather have a Z06 Corvette AND an RX-8, or a BMW 6-series coupe and an RX-8, or or or.

I do understand reasonably priced mods, but let's face it folks:

1) The RX-8, while enormously fun, is hardly a collectible car

2) ANY car that isn't a collectible is a massively depreciating asset regardless of what you do to it.

Sorry to **** in the pool. I'm sure it will be cool and all that ... but do have to say that I don't understand.

that is true, buy a 2006 z06 and just put twin turbo, the car itself will be $65-70 thousand, and twin turbo and all the upgrades will cost you 40 -50 thousand, total is $120,000 and you will have close to 1000 horses!!!!!!!!! check out the latest magazines and they have information on a project they just completed on a Z06, i know everybody says alot of people have the corvette so if you really want to make your rx8 600 hp, go with the 13b motor, i contacted acosta racing and with $60,000 it will push 800 hp, and it will be much better because with the stock engine you will have sooo many problems even though it will be upgraded, and acosta racing is also on the east coast, i think you are getting ripped off with $80,000. thats way toooo much for just that stock engine buildup and all the work, not worth it.

the $80,000 isnt JUST engine tho, theres a LOT of non-engine mods too, so take that into account.

80K was just a guesstimation, right now I have about 20K wrapped up in the project. Probably another 20 to 30k to finish it up maybe even less. But Nsanity is absolutely correct, the money I am spending is for brakes, suspension, body kit, interior pieces, and plenty of other items. So we'll see what happens and besides that, PFSupercars has been around for 10 years or so working with the Rotary motors and I'm very confident with their abilities to complete the project correctly and with few problems as possible. Okay so now I know I've been talking about the headers, down pipe, motor mount and all that wonderful stuff. I finally have a picture, and here we are.

Enjoy, and next on the list is the fabrication of the intercooler and piping, again once things are finish I will be sure to post. Take care everybody and have a good holiday. AND JUST TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IS NOT THE TURBO WE ARE USING. THE HOUSING WAS FOR TEST FITTING PORPUSES ONLY.

Kenny Mcneil did the fab work. Ray brought him in from Jersey. Kenny has been fabbing/building turbo kits for the past 25 years, and he currently fabs/builds turbo kits for Lamborghini, Porshe, and other top end cars. He's also built a 900 WHP SRT-4, so I feel my car is in VERY good hands.

Wow. Can't wait to see your finished project.

I don't understand why people have to comment on how they think you are doing the wrong thing.. or it's toooo much $$..
Why does that have to be an issue ?
It's YOUR car..
I have 44k into my RX-8 and I still have at least a stereo and FI still to go..
My friend, and vette lover, said to me recently.. 'For what you have into your car, you could have a vette'.
MY response.. no **** professor.. if I wanted a vette.. I would have 1..
I wanted an RX-8.. so I got 1. It's has never been about the $$.

Good luck and keep us posted... and keep the pics coming !!

-BB
P.S. On Friday, someone at the gas station asked my what kind of car I was driving.
See if anyone in a vette gets asked that..

Hey Leggs, Nah no updates except for the pic of the headers, downpipe, motor mount and stuff. Ray suppose to fab up the intercooler this past week, but with the Holidays I didn't get much of an oppertunity to make it up to the shop. I should be able to make it up this thursday before I ship out on 2 weeks of VACTION! I'm thinking about taking a road trip across the U.S. depending on the weird *** weather that everyone's been having. I'll see what the deal is with the intercooler and all and when I get a chance I'll go ahead and snap some shots. Well take everyone and I'll talk to ya'll soon.

Okay well I tried to create a new thread for my RX-8 project and hardly anyone posted anything about it. As far as things are concerned it's coming along nicely. I have like 2 minutes to post right now because I'm on my lunch break. But the motor should be out and being modified this past week. So when I go up next thursday I'll probably be taking pictures of the inside of the engine. Now I may not post these pictures until the work is done, but I'll try to inform as much as possible. Well I need to split, take care everybody.

I've seen better work, especially for that kind of outlay ... I guess that maybe they think you'll make so much power that weight considerations don't matter

Oh don't worry I'll keep the posts and pics coming, as long as work is getting done. Also the guy that fabricated the turbo kit for my RX-8 has been fabbing turbos for the past 25 years. So I think he knows what he's doing. Currently he's builds turbo kits for Lamborghini and Porsche, oh yeah, and one for my RX-8.

Just a quick question here, why do a lot of people think it's impossible for a Renisis to hit 600 rwhp? You know people used to say the same thing about the 3rd gen RX-7's, and I've seen 2 with over 700 rwhp. One is here in the states and the other was built by RE-Amamiya. The engine still works the same, sure it's set up differently, but when ya get right down to the basics, it's all in the tuning. Anyways I'm not trying to defend my project, because I honestly could give a **** less if people disagree with me on it. We'll make it to 600 rwhp if we have to blow up 5 engines or even get out and push the damn thing lol.

But if you do want Rotory work done and you live near Maryland, PFSupercars is a great place to go to. This is the same place I bought my 93 RX-7 from. My 93 pushed 400.1 rwhp on pump gas and stage 3 twin turbos @ 18psi. She's a potent little *****.

I'm going up to PFSupercars next Thursday just to check on things. If anyone is interested in going drop me a PM and let me know. I'll set up a time and place to meet. I'll catch everybody later, until then take care ya'll.

PFSC smokes pole and that fabbing job looks like ***.

Just kidding. I was practicing my Ryan H. impersonation.

Well, not kidding really, just being dramatic. I've only heard mixed reviews on PF's stuff since Ray took over - it certainly can't be any worse than when Farrell still owned it. No one could blow a motor like Pete. No one could bury you in BS like Pete, either.

As for the fab work - that looks like a test piece until you realize he has attached some of the finished stuff to it. Hopefully that is just practice and he will use it to fab a jig for the final product.
6 months and counting. You do realize I built my system in a few weeks, right? That is without the immense experience and capable hands (not to mention fully opted shop) of Ray and Kenny.
Just rubbing salt...

Eightman,

Rgonza, Ramon (is not a RX8 member) and I already try to push the limit with the Renesis
and the maximum that we get whas 396HP with Ramon's RX8.
I hope you or anyone can make more than that but I don't see 600hp is a realistic number
the main problem is the design of the Renesis.

We don't need to go to Maryland, because the fastest rotary cars on the world are in Puerto Rico. do you have and idea of how many 700hp + Rx-7 are on the Island?

Again I would like that someone make more hp than us...................
