I am thinking about buying a turbo for it soon, but i want to know from the guys that already have one, from greddy, and what else they did to their rx8, the results for 1/4 mile, and 0-60 times. I need to get around 12.3 seconds 1/4 mile, and i do not know yet if its worth buying the greddy or the ssr kit. Give me some tips.

 

You NEED to get 12.3 seconds in the 1/4 mile, huh? Ok. here's how.

Sell the RX-8 and get an STi or Evo. If quarter mile times are all you care about, get a different car. Even with an aftermarket turbo, you aren't gonna shave off 2+ seconds off the RX-8s quarter mile.

 

The Greddy kit will probably give you mid 13 second 1/4 mile times and the SSR kit will probably get mid 12s. These are just my guesses so Im not sure.

 

or better yet keep the 8 and buy a Camaro/Mustang

Im not planning on trading or selling my car, i love the baby too much, even after 20k miles, i love it as i do on the first day i got it. For all you people that dont have faith, i saw a rx8 turbo the other day, and he was running 12.9 somewhere around 310 rwhp, i need to beat that! I also have a 04 m3 running 380 hp, and a hummer with a whipple supercharger, with headers, exhaust, chip, pullys etc, goin around 530 hp, and people said it be impossible to get it to go under 8 seconds and 130 on the freeway....a 8k pound car....accomplished!

If hp & 1/4 mi. times are your main concern & money is plentiful then get the SSR unit & talk to Charles Hill about his nitrous setup. The SSR + a 50 shot will probably get you to the 340 whp range. Of course at that range you better have some R-Compound tires for you to hook up or you will never get to those times.

Good luck trying...make sure if you do get that you come back and POST POST POST...so we can see how you did it. Remember, our car stock get's 14.5-14.7 in the 1/4 mile so you will need to cut off a little more than 2sec of those times.

I understand your "WANT" to get the car to 12.3 but it's, IN NO WAY, a NEED...it's just a want. I'm not saying somethings wrong with your "want"...just don't call it a "need" because NEEDS are very few in our lives...wants...NEVER END.

I've flirted with the idea of having the fastest RX8 in our club, but you know what...it would take more money than I"m willing to dish out (nor do I have it...lol) so I would like to make my 8 as great as I can make it one day...but if FOREVER stays stock...I"ll enjoy her for what she is...

(With that said I also was the guy who said that after the rotary died on me (150,000 miles I bet) I would love to stick the Vette's V8 in there....ohhh mama))

A 12.3 is going to take a LOT of hard work. You're looking at about 400 rwhp.

i dont get why you guys bully the **** out of people for wanting a faster car. people obviously got this car for a reason and just because its slower than other cars didnt hold them back. so obvious they like it for more reasons. and i dont get why you guys always have to be ******** about it telling people to get a new car. theres more to speed when choosing a car. and knowing you can pump out more HP outa the car people want to do so. Like other people trying to fix they're car up faster why do you praise them and bash others who want to do the same? just think about it. common guys we all bought this car for reasons beyond speed. read all the threads on why people love the car. theres more to love about this car then HP. and adding more HP to the car you love can only make you love it more.
