Rotor Motor TURBO!!!

hey guys, i was just over at barnes and noble and was flipping thru a few magazines, and i saw a pic of an rx-8, and i went to the article and this shop in australia, unfortunently, has a turbo set up and they are supposed to be selling it soon. in the article it said with the turbo, the setup tune ups, etc, it's 8000 aus. whjich is not too bad, like 7000 our money, somewhere there. i emailed them and i am just waiting for a response.

You can figure roughly 14-16 h.p. gain per pound of boost.

That graph is F'd up. If it's only seeing 189 at the wheels, that's gotta be stock.

Either that or austrailian horses are much bigger than the rest of the worlds.

Hp is up 11%....torque is up 55%. It's a mild upgrade for better driveability. This is stage one....stage 2 is yet to be released. Boost is backed off above 8000rpm to 4psi.

Driveability would defn be inhanced, but at 189, my car drives fine, is this car an automatic? that would put the baseline run at about 168 whp, in which i can see the 11%, but man stock 6 spds are dynoing at around 189 without any modification. when i see a kit that can put me at 300 whp and gains from 4500-5000 up, im in, but just for some more torque, i guess i would have to drive one and see.

We have 237hp 6 port engines in our six speeds, and this is a six speed. What you see on any particular dyno depends on the operator.

torque is what the 8 needs, and lacks in, ...it's torque thats gonna haul out the better accel.

X-mann wins, if you read the paragraph above the dyno pic you will see that it specifically says the car is producing 189 Lb-ft which is a 55% improvement. How ironic that everyone went straight for the dyno chart and skipped all the technical info.

I read it all, the torque is great, a great step, i guess i am just hoping for some more top end along with torque, they mention internals, you think they are turning the boost down to prevent engine damage? or tuning issues, Now im ready for stage 3, the price on stage one sounds good.

The magazine article says the boost is reduced above 8k to "minimise high rev stress"...

Stage 2 is anticipated to include a new exhaust, new injectors and an ECU re-tune. Around 300hp at the flywheel.....
