Rotor Motor TURBO!!!

hey guys, i was just over at barnes and noble and was flipping thru a few magazines, and i saw a pic of an rx-8, and i went to the article and this shop in australia, unfortunently, has a turbo set up and they are supposed to be selling it soon. in the article it said with the turbo, the setup tune ups, etc, it's 8000 aus. whjich is not too bad, like 7000 our money, somewhere there. i emailed them and i am just waiting for a response.

8inVegas 08-26-2004 03:07 PM

the shop is called rotor master, i checked the website, but it's not up yet.

check the australian forum or do a search for rotor master turbo ... there was a thread up a while bit when it came out

sertop. Hymee revealed, at least to me that the Rotor Master kit was in development, or already out. :D

any info on hp gains?

Charles R. Hill 08-27-2004 01:27 AM

You can figure roughly 14-16 h.p. gain per pound of boost.

Charles

8inVegas 08-27-2004 01:53 AM

they said they'll run about 6-8 lbs. of boost, which me like :)

Gomez 08-27-2004 02:06 AM

$8000AUS is $5600USD.....

Gomez 08-27-2004 02:11 AM

Here is the link .

yz007 08-27-2004 06:32 PM

dyno

hey did i read that dyno right? 189 whp, i hope thats the base map,

8inVegas 08-27-2004 06:36 PM

yeah, i was like wtf, it says it's a 55% improvement, is like over 100hp gain

x-mann 08-27-2004 06:42 PM

55% improvement in torque at 5500 rpms i think?

That graph is F'd up. If it's only seeing 189 at the wheels, that's gotta be stock.

Either that or austrailian horses are much bigger than the rest of the worlds.

Gomez 08-27-2004 07:59 PM

Hp is up 11%....torque is up 55%. It's a mild upgrade for better driveability. This is stage one....stage 2 is yet to be released. Boost is backed off above 8000rpm to 4psi.

Gomez.

yz007 08-27-2004 08:18 PM

Driveability would defn be inhanced, but at 189, my car drives fine, is this car an automatic? that would put the baseline run at about 168 whp, in which i can see the 11%, but man stock 6 spds are dynoing at around 189 without any modification. when i see a kit that can put me at 300 whp and gains from 4500-5000 up, im in, but just for some more torque, i guess i would have to drive one and see.

Gomez 08-27-2004 08:34 PM

We have 237hp 6 port engines in our six speeds, and this is a six speed. What you see on any particular dyno depends on the operator.

Gomez.

torque is what the 8 needs, and lacks in, ...it's torque thats gonna haul out the better accel.

X-mann wins, if you read the paragraph above the dyno pic you will see that it specifically says the car is producing 189 Lb-ft which is a 55% improvement. How ironic that everyone went straight for the dyno chart and skipped all the technical info.

yz007 08-27-2004 10:18 PM

I read it all, the torque is great, a great step, i guess i am just hoping for some more top end along with torque, they mention internals, you think they are turning the boost down to prevent engine damage? or tuning issues, Now im ready for stage 3, the price on stage one sounds good.

Gomez 08-28-2004 03:17 AM

The magazine article says the boost is reduced above 8k to "minimise high rev stress"...

Stage 2 is anticipated to include a new exhaust, new injectors and an ECU re-tune. Around 300hp at the flywheel.....

Gomez.

punishr 09-02-2004 10:20 PM

When is this stage 2 kit supposed to be available?

Gomez 09-02-2004 10:36 PM

No idea....keep an eye on the website.

punishr 09-02-2004 10:43 PM

I check it every once in a while, but just thought I would see if someone else knew something.
