question about MM Greddy turbo upgrade

If an extra $1000 is not enough to get a kit from you. How much money do you need to get this done? I don't have any other options.

You need to look at your application and figure out the max hp you plan to hit.
For almost all of us, this is 400 whp.
The 3071R can hit 400, while still spooling just as fast as the small greddy turbo. I haven't yet seen anything better suited for the RX-8.

Show me 350, then I'll eat my words I bet you'll start generating a ton of heat and won't get past 315.

You want the fastest spooling turbo that can flow the most. While 400 is possible, no one said you had to go that far.
Even if you were completely happy at 270 whp, the 3071R is better than the greddy. You can reach that 270 with the 3071R with less PSI and the charge temp is cooler.

I think everyone here has a sensible point. There really isn't much of an argument.
I have ALWAYS maintained that, if you have a goal in mind first, ANY choice is sensible as long as it supports that goal.
The questions of durability and long-term satisfaction are really hard to address.

When I purchased the 3071R, it wasn't to make more power. It was to get rid of the greddy unit. Friggin' thing had been rebuilt twice. It made no sense to continue to use it.

And then it will get quoted, cross-posted and shat upon.
I just don't see the point in teasing people. 315 out-of-the-box is plenty.
If you want more, the blueprint is out there.
Honestly, I turn the power down when I'm out on track. There really isn't much use in having more than 360 or so on a street car on street tires.
During Auto-X this weekend, I turned my boost controller OFF because it was so slick and cold on the tarmac. Ended up with a better time.

I don't think so.
Most are not running as aggressive a tune as I am (hard to provide without hands-on calibration), or as much fuel.
I don't know who else has W/M, either. That is a big part of it.
There is another car here in Phoenix that will probably end up pretty close once we get it on the dyno.
