Going with the flash--found out that running without a cat is ok with it. That was one of my concerns.
Thanks Shinka---I had not thought of it that way. Makes sense--no etoh for me either!

All of this no alcohol business sounds like new years resolutions to me, and we all know how those allways turn out.

Well finally decided to pull the trigger today. Will have everything in hand next week and should have it installed within the next month. I'll take my time since I haven't even taken my car out since Thanksgiving. I'm really excited and looking forward to making my car everything I wanted.

Does anyone have any suggestions on additional items needed? I plan on getting the RB gauge pod and am still undecided in the gauges I'll be putting in.

Welcome Dog!
I self installed also--pm if i can be of help. Gauge choice probably depends on what you are doing with the car and what info you want. Since I track several times a year i got the lotek center pod (rb was too low for me)and the classic 3 gauges of water temp, oil temp and pressure. Many choices out there. But, I would HIGHLY recommend oil and water temp gauges at the very least.

Denny, I figure you'll be coming down I-75 at least until Orlando and then probably the turnpike down to Palm Beach?
Or..........you will you pop over to I-95(from Orlando) and then head South? Couple of us live in the Melbourne area which is South of Cape Kennedy by about 30 or so miles and about 90 miles North of Pettit.
Have a safe trip and if you decide to stop around Melbourne for some eats....let us know!
!

Cab said the RB maf pipe is fine to use. Have mine on now and all vacuum lines attached the recommended way.
I will probably go down and hit I 95. Guess i will be listening to a lot of tunes.

Hey shinka,

Is that the guy who keeps your ride top notch or is it the other way around?

I don't thinks so because they weren't sure of what they were going to do when I asked them about it.

I just got back from my trip from Macon Ga to Pettit last night.
For those in the know--I now have no cel and i have a tail. I also have a grin on my face about 2 miles wide. Gas mileage is about 20mpg now! Idle is better than stock. Power......welll maybe a little bit?
Cam's business is sure growing. Says he is shipping 2 kits out to Australia. Got his air installed.
I help him assess problems on a sweet 2nd gen 3 rotor (needed some heatshielding and i saw that the front pulley had a wobble(NOT GOOD) that a guy with an Australian accent brought in on a truck He wouldnt pay me a consultation fee however.......hehehehe.
He gave my install " thumbs up".
I saw the value of having the car for the flash rather than just seening in the ecu. There was about 4 RX8's there with the kit and we where taking all of them out to monitor the car's response---diag one with a leaking vacuum line(guy didnt have a clue he had a leak) that was causing the car to add too much fuel to compensate.
I can say with certainty now that ECU tuning is no longer a problem for any kind of kit. Cam and his "tuner" (Bill) have it figured out. End of story.
Car is MUCH more drivable. the int x wasnt bad now and i am not knocking it at all---that unit that Scott built started this entire thing and we couldnt be where we are today without it. But, now the car has a smoother throttle response in acceleration partial and full, and it idles steady at 1.1K---even with air on! stft, ltft barometric sensors, start up(cranks like a oem car now) all fully functional.
At the end of the day i took Bill back to his little shop and HOLY BE JESUS! Not only does he have Formula cars around(plus the one he owns and drives---would you believe a 1.2 min at Road Atlanta--4 G's in the corner and over 2400 lbs of downforce on a 1400lb car with approx 720 hp!! He had some track data and shoed me a part of it and where in my na rx8 i was running maybe 128---will he was hitting 180!! he was going faster through some turns than I am going on the straights! 180mph in an open cockpit car---wooooo.
Plus---would you believe a 1 rotor---thats right a one rotor--- shifter cart that is air cooled?
All in all --when it gets to the point in which you think you know a little you meet guys like this that show you exactly how much you do know.
