hi i know this is a ridiculous question, but may i ask what you owners of the Pettit SC are getting in MPG city/hwy? and what your pre-SC mpg were?
The reason I ask is, Mazdatrix has a new SC out, and I would like to have some comparison, and weigh out the pros and cons of each SC before I commit. Appreciate any info. Thanks.
Can't wait til my warranty is over to get the SC and the HP this car should have had in the beginning.

S/C'd 180/280 Full to Empty - City/Highway Blown
As you can see in city it drinks a lot... mostly cause the shutter opens up if you roll the throttle anything other than mellow.
I used to get just over 50 miles per 1/4 tank City... now I get like just over 40 miles per tank. You can't play without paying! Though Cam suspects and hopes that with the flash the fuel economy will come back.

Flash - a-ah - he'll save everyone of us
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Flash - a-ah - he's a miracle
Flash - a-ah - king of the impossible
He's for everyone of us
Stand for everyone of us
He'll save with a mighty hand
Every man every woman
Every child - with a mighty flash

Just a man
With a man's courage
He knows nothing but a man
But he can never fail
No one but the pure in heart

I think I may have mentioned it to you earlier. I am not sure if others have the same problem, but the X does not respond well to changes in the humidity levels or air density. The idle is a real bitch to get correct and hold. Jeff (MazdaManiac) has the technical terms for this, me just the results. I am frustrated with the X in the desert cuz in the very early morning it will run well and then in the heat of the day it was a completely different car. Now that winter/fall has set in it's more under control. I would have chucked it long ago if not for the chance of the flash tool from Pettit. Jeff and I are going to give it one more try during SEMA and if we can't get it to acceptable levels of operation then it's up for sale. NOW please note that no one else except desert people have complained about this so it could be only dry thin air that is the problem. Cam did a quick tune at SSX and it ran well in Cali but the closer I got to home the worse it got. In fairness a vacuum hose came loose during the drive but even after replacing it the car still ran terrible. I reloaded a map off the dongle and it is now running acceptable. Sorry I can't be more technical but I'm just learning about tuning.

OD... no holding of the breath... And I'd not go and call Cam about Moon's announcement (A Calculated Leak). It is rather premature, but a fact that it really is quite this close. The Flash in on a few Vehicles, but it is in the tuning, diagnostic and trouble shooting phase. It is not being sold as ready for release. Carlos is in the area and can quickly go to the shop for mapping and diagnostics etc...
Now... Phil. It is not only you. We may not have it as severe as you, but we are not perfect either... The Int-X (by my estimation) "gets the job done". On cool crisp days, it is absolutely unbelievable the power the s/c / Int-X produces. The drive is smoother and better than I could dream for. But the same thing at sea level on my coast up north... as the climate changes, the power, response & crispness is not the same. This does lead to the notion that the Int-X can not adjust for altitude, humidity and climate changes the way factory PCU's are designed to. It does not go without saying that cool intake air will always make a car run better because the molecules are more dense and create a nice rich explosion as opposed to big fat lazy hot air molecules. It also does not say that some of the things that are being added, specifically for the flash would no assist the Int-X, but Pettit wants a stand alone solution for their kit, so rather than spend time developing fixes for the X, they are focusing on the Flash.

Perhaps there are some things I could shed some light on in regards to tuning the Interceptor-X with the Pettit setup. There are cars running the unit all over the U.S. and other countrys without these issues. Feel free to call the shop or pm me if you like, I will be happy to help,Scott

thanks Scott I am new to this type of modification and have a lot to learn. Add that to basal cell ganglia fatty deposits in the brain and i have a real challenge ahead of me! with 3 women in the house i hope my install etc is in good coordination with the estrogen God. Sometimes there is not enough chocolate in the world........

Now where did I say that??? No it does not suck it just seems to have some quirks that I am not smart enough to fix. Obviously the flash will be the panacea and solve all our problems. I just get frustrated when the tune changes. Scott is always asking me to get with him about my problems but I'm not the one tuning it only changing the maps when I have a problem.

Please know I am not at all slamming your product. My X was loaded with Juan's latest tune, and while in FL. it ran great. even better when it was cooler at night with low humidity.
I do appreciate your position on standing by the X! I hope I did not come across as calling it not a "finished" product.
Maybe I will give ya a call next week to get some better understanding of your system.

I've been using the X since I was n/a and was satisfied with it's performance. I am not capable of tuning myself and have had three others tune it. One of them is touted as being the best. All can get a good tune for the hours of the tune and we have mapped the best in the computer or the dongle. Scott, I think you know Steve Kan. He was in town for a 7 tuning session and agreed to do mine. He got a great n/a tune in it but even he got frustrated later in the day when it completely changed. Jeff has tuned it three times and has produced some great tunes but they have changed (settings still the same but results changed) in a few hours. Cam tuned it at SSX and it ran great during the tune and again the next day but as I got closer to Vegas it started to deteriorate. Since then Jeff suggested that until we have another chance to work on it that I reload one of the dongle tunes (it's worked rather nicely). I have been reluctant to bring you in because if I then had a problem you are 3000 miles away. I was hoping that you would be at a tuning session that was planned in LA so that you and Jeff could talk, but it did not come off. Jeff is trying to teach me, thank god he's got patience. I did not realize I was bad raping the product just pointing out my frustration. I apologize for any of my comments that may have been construed to be negative to your product. There are hundreds out there that do not have any problems.

I remember in the old days that you also had to chamge the tune when you went to the mountains etc. dang car at times would not even pull up a steep hill in high gear as usual. So I suspect the physics are the same--it is just the way cars are tuned now. That is why at the track people now have weather stations.
If we are going to play we have to learn the game.

Somthing in that respect but I look at that as being another map to worrie about. Thats what I liked about the interceptor is the simplicity of what your working with. Load, wide open throttle, cruze all crossed buy the boost /vac. Thats a great option for those that like to try different things like mods and more boost, nos and just about anything, hell they run them on the Diasios and plant a consistant 370 to the ground and have very reliable results.

Wow a barometer sensor. Must be a Aneroid barometer is an instrument for measuring the pressure of the air, due to the weight of the column of air above it. As the earth's atmosphere gets thinner with increasing height, it follows that as we ascend from sea level and low-lying parts of the earth's surface, the weight of the air will decrease. That is, the pressure will fall.
Invented about or around 1645 by an Italian mathematician named Torricelli. He discovered the principle of the barometer. Talk about old technologie lol

Another plus about the interceptor is it dosnt care if you have a cat or not so if you want to flash you need to keep your kitty or get a high flow. It throws a cell without it.
