its going to hard to make any major improvement over the oem?

Moon--in May a lot of us are going to be tracking at Roebling Road in Savannah Ga area. There is a really nice guy that has a sweet fullt restored 3nf gen twin turbo RX7 that he usues only for the track. It still in the dd config however. I am going to ask if we can do a comparison between his and my cars- which has the fastest lap etc etc. Maybe Grassroot mag can pick this up as they like to do things like this sometimes. What do ya think?
I think I can outdrive him, but he sure is light.

accident---
hey did you ever get the noise from the beat rush trans brace figued out?--i just ordered one and at the very least can install just for the track. Was wondering about some rubber washers for it?

Question all---why do we get 14.4 volts at idle and then it falls to 13.2 with reving? No load on the car(lights, a/c, radio etc).
I always thought it would stay the same as idle or increase slightly.
hmmmmm?!

Yeah rubber bushings might work, its got poly on it now and I too am reserving it for track days only, its really really loud...

It might be higher on start up because of the extra power needed for things like the secondary air pump which turns off after the cats warmed up... typical auto volt is 13.8

My thinking also---but now it is running a constant 14.4--14.5 after i installed a bollen voltage stabilizer(like the buddy club one). E bay for $70. Sweet deal.
I may work on the brace--let you know what I find out.

idler pulley alignment or bearing---check tension and alignment---if that doesnt work it is a standard size bearing and local auto store carries them

Remove the idler pulley and belt. Start the engine to recheck for noise just to make sure. Behind the pulley you will notice a snap ring holding the bearing in place. Remove and call Pettit tomorrow for the right pulley part number.

just idler pulley bearing--take yours out and take it with you --it has the numbers on it. I have one and can ship it to ya if you like but it is only a $10 part and you prob dont want to wait on mine.
ANd it may be adjustment---trying to tighten the belt if you are not careful can cause it to not be straight.

Yeh, do that, also when you get the belt off spin the blower slowly by hand, feel for sticky spot. I really hope you dont have one.

Saturday is approaching pretty fast. Almost as fast as the car with another 40-50 hp, but not quite

yes DO NOT run the car like that!
I have a new finding (for me anyway) for the EFI dude.
I noticed after i placed a bollen voltage stabilizer and upgrade some grounding points(used 4 ga cable on the engine to body grounded--ditto for the neg terminal --to body and added one from the neg battery post to the alternator ,my coils have a upgraded ground already) that the sensor readout via the efi dude (TPS, MAF, RPM etc) has a much smoother line now.
Guess I needed that. She does crank a tad quicker but other than that performance wise I cant tell a difference.
09 R3 MAY be in my future--depending.
I like that car.
