Need More Power

Hey everyone. Am looking for a good shop here at Miami Fl. That can swap my engine for a 20b engine. I have a good chunk of money. But still dont know how much is the whole thing going to cost me. Anyone know any good shop? How much its going to run me to do this swap? Any other information i should know about? Trying to learn and do my homework so i can know what am getting my self into.

You are probably looking close to 30K or more.

20b = WAAAAAYYYY too much money.
If you're in Florida, look into Mazsport. They CAN do the 20b swap for you but you might be better off with one of their big Turbo kits. You can probably get up to 400 hp with one of their units; which is more then enough for an 8.

paraphrasing-

"whats the easiest way to become poor?"

"start with a good chunk of money and then do a 20b swap"

Had a RX8 before but a van slammed into me from behind and my car flipped a couple times on the highway. It got totaled. Miss it like crazy but had very light power. So am going shopping for another rx8 this weekend and want the engine to be dropped in ASAP.

Is a 20b non-turbo woth it? That actually what i had in mind of getting dont care much for the turbo. but if the turbo is an extra 5 grand then y not get it.

Let's assume you can afford it. Can you also afford to wait 8months while the engine is swapped out?

If i were you I'd pm rgonza or angelov. Depends on how much of a chunk of cash you have, you may get it in a small amount of time.

Two real good outfits in FL. Mazsport & Pettit Racing. Both top notch rotary shops.

If you are wanting really high power, Mazsport's kits are known for being complete and being very reliable. Looking at between 8 and 10 grand depending on the kit you choose, but that includes all the upgrades you need. As others said you are most likely going to be looking at a lot more to put in a 20b. I can't remember what the hp and torque numbers are on a 20b, but i'm guessing for what a 20b would cost, you could get the highest end mazsport turbo and have plenty left over for an engine replacement should you get crazy with the boost and blow your engine

If you have enough for a 20b, and you are obviously wanting serious power levels by thinking that, might as well go for the Mazsport kit. Between the kit and a few hundred bucks more for their ignition upgrade, (you don't need the ignition upgrade to run the kit, but you'll need it if you want to hit that 400 whp mark) might as well go for that off the bat.

But if you are truly very wealthy, and want to do the 20b for the hell of it, give Mazsport and Pettit a call and talk to them about it. They are the two that are in the south florida area, at least the ones that get talked about on here all the time. They both have good reps.

And as someone said, 20b swaps seem to be popular down in the Puerto Rico area. Perhaps check out their regional threads.

Might also want to take a look at this thread. Not so much for peak numbers, but to see what the hp and torque curves look like. That will give you a better idea of where you are going to get the power at.
