So when are you going to build everyone else on the forum a kit? It looks real nice by the way.

Cool

I can build this same kit for anyone thats willing to bring their car to Minnesota for two weeks. It would run everyone less money than other kits on the market and provide better performance due to better components. I could build a kit for around 4-5K and you choose your own fuel managament or with fuel management(EMU) for about 1k more(including a good runing map and the necesarry tuning) this is with install, basically a complete runing car with no guess work. I'm keeping books on everything I spend so I can do a realistic quote at the end of the build. Anyone interested in seeing the car in person is welcome to drop by and take a peek. No shady business, hehe.

Hello,
I would have no problem building the manifold for you. I would have to wait till the weekend after this one coming up because I have to finish my car. I would also need u to pay up front and give me about 2 weeks before the manifold ships so I can get the necesarry stainless pipes and flange. As for price I would have to add up what it cost me but it should be in the range of $325-375, this including some CNC time to make the flange and shipping charges for all the stuff(elbows, stainless pipe & flange material). If u would like, for about $425-450 I could build u this manifold using the PTP flange which is nicely machined and polished and costs $150 and the turn around time would be quicker because I wont have to mahcine a flange(which takes for ever using stainless). Tell me what you think.

Talking

We fired the car up a few hours ago...it sounds great. Chris's car looks and runs great.

Everything is done except to TIG weld the Blow Off Valve (we only have a MIG in the garage)...and tune. Without the BOV it restricted movement (which is fine since we wanted to check everything...breaking it in a bit never hurts).

I posted a video of the car in idle...we were checking for leaks and there were none we could hear after the intial check...we will keep monitoring while tuning probably starts today...Chris is going to do that much on his own...dyno time will ensue eventually. (warning...loud video as we were in garage) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYGux3oQTf8

Lots of other great details Chris can share with us

Talking The car runs!!!

Hey guys,
As Truemagellen stated, the car started last night at about 11:30 PM. I had forgotten to tighten the V-band on the 2 piece downpipe and it caused a CEL before I could tell exactly where it was venting exahaust. I tightened it and the exhaust leak went away...(hard to believe but this was the only issue) now I need to reset the ECU. I drove the car to work today and it is behaving perfectly, exept to some slight hesitation at part throttle due to the fact that I still havent programed the EMU(it has the base map from greddy) I havent gone past 0 on the Boost gage because I have yet to weld the BOV and I dont want to damage my turbo. All looks great and today I'll get under again to check and see if anything is getting hot around the passenger side of the engine bay(where the Downpipe and Manifold get close to hoses and wiring) and add more insulation as needed. All I can say is that I'm exited...Whohoooooo. Its going to work great.

Cause it's when you drill and weld and bolt on and take it off and make adjustments and do everything again, and again and eventually by the end of the day it is done, you look at it and have this feeling of satisfaction, and so then you want to share it with others. ...I guess.

Ah so true Swoope

Here are a few more pictures...including one of the Happy Turbo owner about to top off the oil (it is ChrisRX8PR of course) before startup. No comment . Actually that is the best pic of the front so far...I should have taken a few while on the road. This week I will.

I drew in where we will put the BOV after the TIG welding work. Hope you get an idea how much room there is from the picture looking down on the engine bay.

Let's NOT make this into a synth thread

Ah never mind... we can blame it on Christian since it is in the pic.

Why did you choose Mobil One Chris? I was under the impression that it is one that shouldn't be used on the Rotary.

Chris, get the front end all re-installed? Or do I need to come back and show you were all of the pieces go?

Have you figured out what you are going to do with the front crash support? Just leave it out or are you still going to build some type of a mount that goes behind? the intercooler?

He will replace it with a better piece that combined with the intercooler will provide greater protection than the stock unit bar none.

hehe, No goofing here. We will not have any dyno/1/4 mile figures for a while. I must first install the BOV, prove several componets that I fabricated(make sure they are reliable) and tune the emanage ultimate close to final tuning before heading to the dyno or its going to costs me too much money and its getting colder by the day so I don't know if I'll be able to go before winter shows up. I'll do my best to keep u updated.

The front is on the car, but thanks for the offer. About the bumper, I will fabricate one out of aluminum or steel that fits behind the intercooler and hooks up to the factory posts. I'm not really worried about a frontal impact because the intercooler is manufactured in such a way that it would absorb a great amountof enegy doing good in place of the factory bumper, the reason I want to add the bumper bar is chassy ridigity, the factory bumper support links both sides of the chassy making the car very rigid, I dont want to lose this and this is the reason I'm going to build a replacement bumper support.

Ahh so do the Japanese 8's have the front impact bumper? I was under the impression that it was an American safety standard that was done to comply.

That is why we have the cover on the Mazdaspeed bumper, to hide the support in the front.
