Thats too funny.

You expect a 45hp increase for $600?

You think the latest dyno gain was just for the coils?

600+ Intecep X 1200 or so?

And it would be around a 25hp increase anyways for 225. The point was in asking that if put on a modded car and then tuned, would it in fact make the same gains that stockers were making with coil + incpt x

true, but I did post the previous 214 rwhp dyno, while I regret not taking a print out at the time it really doesn't matter to me if anyone believes it or not, if I want to lie forging one up is no BFD, plus the people present would be free to call me a liar too

but as DMP said plenty of people have posted similar results on the OE ignition for a dynojet dyno, the same type of dyno Mazsport has (kind of surprised that nobody asked up to this point, moreso that it wasn't specified)

since we didn't have this system available to us we can't say if it would matter or not

maybe, maybe not

Im not knocking the product, but I don't agree that the OE system is over-taxed for NA, some of the members claiming such don't have any credibility to back up their talk

posting results is good, there's no intention to stifle debate, but rather to participate in the debate

if it really does improve on the OE system it will prove itself out in time

I wasn't being entirely sincere there... more of a way to get you to post it if you mysteriously had it still. There are 3 distinct people I believe on this forum without always seeing things in front of me.

I do agree however, there are people who have gotten similiar results with the OE system, but I guess after a few months of people installing and comparing with working coils we'll know for sure.

Much agreed TeamRX8.

Comprehensive evidence as to power numbers on modified cars, ect would be great.

Hell i'd no doubt buy it tomorrow.

I got 198.6 RWHP, then it dropped to 198.1 consistantly for the next 6 dyno runs.

It posted in the Dyno thread. Linked to the Calf club where we dyno'd 25 cars in the same day.

That was with a stock cat. So I expect to be over 200 with the new ignition.

A bit off topic but now that the new coils are out will we be seeing 400whp dynos from Mazsport turbo aplications, or any turbo aplication for that matter, any time soon?

Formula for 200whp rx-8?

I'd like to get around 200whp from my vehicle.
How reasonable is this?

Intake: remove screens and baffles = Free
K&N filter = $51
RB Duct = $135

RP Supercat = $450
Borla Exhaust = $700
Coil packs = $600
RB Flash = $300

$2,236 in parts = approx. 200rwhp rx-8?

I realize the 55shot would be cheaper, but I'm just not into it

I feel this is a great mod for your NA 8 if you consider $$ vs. gains and the other options out there.

Mantis did you dyno your car after the coils upgrade? I remember you saying you had 199 rwhp with the interceptor-x and your HKS exhaust, it would be great to know how much more you gained just by adding the coils.

I asked Scott this question . Not a lot of peak - mostly in the 4000-7500rpm range

The important thing here isn't the actual number produced. I could care less if someone's car dyno'd much higher. That means NOTHING useful!!! The only thing that matters here is that there was a gain over stock and you can see how much. Don't EVER put faith in dyno numbers when comparing one person's car to anothers. It's a futile exercise. A dyno is nothing more than a tool used to tune and show before and after results. The actual output is irrelevant. Just because this car got 200 and someone else claims to have gotten more than that stock doesn't mean a thing.

Unfortunately we did not. The NA car we used has similar mods.

you might be close but most people aren't cracking the 200 mark without some variety of flash/tuning. THey also tend to have a lighter flywheel on top of what you have.

Try this thread (180 whp is a pretty good/general baseline for this car) :
