I just broke my tranny thanks to the mechanic's incompetence (asked to check it, opened and dead after 2 days...).
I don't know if the warranty will cover that issue so i need to ask this:
How will the 5 gear work on the track compared to our 6 speed?
I am modded but still NA and i always found the short gearings to help with our little torque. What would it be like with this transmission?

Thank you very much!

If you are shifting less you are on the power longer. The time slip posted above shows a quicker and faster car through the 1/4 mile with the 5-speed for that reason. You do give up a slight mechanical advantage with the 5-speed but you get a built in chassis stiffener, a lighter powerplant frame that wont twist or break and a much stronger transmission. Depending on the track the ability to remain on the power in third gear until you are moving 106mph (depending on tire size)could prove to be a nice advantage as well.

Hope this helps!

So in the transmission itself just a FD transmission trade or have you strengthend it in any way? Are the internals the same...I think you get the point.

This is what I see:

The word "Stock" - that's what threw me off. I assumed you were just interjecting an off topic curiosity-ish question about the stock RX-8s tranny.

Sorry it's the new sleep prescription.

So yes,

Significantly.

My bad.

bse50 07-01-2008 01:25 AM

thank you Scott, if my warranty doesn't cover the transmission i will probably give yours a shot ;)

Awesome now i can beat the shit out of my tranny and have a replacement , thank you very much. Now time to rape my transmission of its pride.

olddragger 07-02-2008 10:52 AM

the trans is one thing very very good, but i dont think many people are realizing the benefits that are being obtained from cunking the ppf and having custom bracing. That in itself is very very good.
Hurry up Christmas 2010!!

Schimmle 07-02-2008 02:23 PM

^Do explain.

maxxdamigz 07-02-2008 02:45 PM

I haven't read up much on PPF issues, but if the PPF is both heavy and underperforming (flexing), then the strain on the drivetrain is being absorbed by the mechanical components more than it needs to be. The shear on a member is proportional to it's deflection. If you have 2 elements supporting something - say a bracket and a transmission, the stress will be spread between the two. The stiffer connection will take more load as it won't allow the system to deflect as much as the softer connection would allow. So, if the PPF flexes, is soft, or flat out fails, everything it is tying together is picking up the slack. A nice, strong, stiff PPF would hold everything in place and lessen the structural load transfered to the other components.

Anyone got a link to PPF failures?

Schimmle 07-02-2008 02:48 PM

Thanks dude!

maxxdamigz 07-02-2008 10:24 PM

Can't wait to have that problem!

kersh4w 07-03-2008 12:14 AM

hahaha, like seriously.

Kazuma 07-04-2008 11:29 AM

Hi all!
Can anybody tell me what's the Vmax for the 3 different 5th gears? Thanks...

bse50 07-04-2008 04:56 PM

2 Attachment(s)
Attachment 123106
Attachment 123107
Here you are, for both the transmissions (stock and mazsport's)-
Excel papers to do some math!

All you have to do is change the final gear to 4,444 since i'm driving with a 4,777.
It is in italian and in km\h too but it shouldn't be an issue, it is very plain and simple.
Also, and that's important, it is not my own work but a friend (brove on the italian board) made it for me :)

urbanlegendrx8 10-20-2010 04:43 PM

Ok with the departure of Scott and Mazsport goes the option of this transmission for my 20b rx8. Are there any body else that is offering a similar transmission or could rebuild a stronger rx8 tranny. I know there are many options for other transmissions (t-56, rx7 tII, etc...) however I spent a good chunk of change on a twin disk exedy clutch for the rx8 and would hate to loose that.

Anybody?

invasion08 10-20-2010 05:24 PM

www.levelten.com by me in nj can build a strong transmission

urbanlegendrx8 10-20-2010 05:33 PM

What kind of power are you making with your 8? What was the reason you upgraded your tranny? Thanks alot by the way..i've been beating my head against the wall over this

urbanlegendrx8 10-20-2010 07:27 PM

I know Angel has run a couple different tranny's and is considering goin to an auto bc he keeps on tearin up everything (t-56)...I guess I never asked Adam, Manuel or Roberto...

rx8_504 05-07-2011 03:18 PM

Sorry for the revive of this..but is this transmission still up forsale? I cant seem to go to the link on the firat page or find it on google when I typed in mazsport

RIWWP 05-07-2011 03:24 PM

3 YEARS after it was offered and you are curious?

There is a reason you aren't finding him though. Google "mazsport scam" and start reading.

TeamRX8 05-07-2011 04:11 PM

you can always try to contact him directly and see if he can do it, at your own risk mind you ....
