Mazda knew about Renesis Turbo
They make upwards of 370 whp now now in a race application, which is much more continuous WOT use than a street car will see, but as I recall from the past Diasio website pages they encountered most of the problem going to higher boost and backpressure differentials trying to get more power out of them.

I have no recollection of this. While I've seen a (very) few people claim otherwise, in a true racing application the premix can be so heavy (multiple ounces per gallon) that I find it hard to believe that it matters, plus I know of other Renesis applications and high level builders who eliminate the MOP.

Because the Renesis is putting out pretty much the same amount of horsepower As the TwinTurbo the RX7 3rd generation. If driven conservatively it gets better gas mileage and lower in the shins that was the whole point of the renesis coming stock . But it can definitely be done and it has been done at this point now since this post is old. It just isn’t cheap you can have two of three things ..Fast, cheap ,or reliable

232 BHP(the generally agreed figure for RX-8) and 276 BHP(the highest output option for FD) are not close no matter how you slice it. This is especially considering RX-8's lack of low-end power.
And remember that FD had the "Gentlemen's Agreement" holding it back - it could have been more if that wasn't there. And an FD is a lot more tunable than the NA RX-8.
The main reason RX-8 is stock without a turbo is really easy: cost. The FD was priced very close to a Corvette from the same years. RX-8 was priced at 50%~60% of a Corvette from its time. With the lower price point, turbo is out of the question.
Bottom line: just enjoy the car. No need to justify anything.

I thought 212 BHP is for the 6-port when paired with the 6AT? The lower redline(7500 RPM) makes it lose some power.
6MT should be a bit more powerful.
Anyway, I think 9krpm posted a picture of his 8 on the dealer lot when he bought it. The window sticker said 250 BHP, LOL.

The BS claim was 250 for the 6-port 6MT. After being called on it, Mazda USA revised the number down to 238. Then the SAE revised the scale and it magically became 232 (with no actual change in output... just the rating system changed).
