i had promised to write a review article for hymee but the magazine in which it was to be published stopped publication so he never got the review that i promised him for the beta test of the scanalyser.

My understanding is that the new hardware he has been waiting on is now USB based so no dongle required.

It doesn't require a RS232 serial port (COM), as it USB based. But is still a device that goes between the USB and the ODBII connector, as the USB need to be interfaced to CAN. That device is required for reprogramming, but doesn't need to be left in the vehicle. But it can be left in the vehicle if you want to do logging, or left in the vechile if yo uwant to run a carputer based scan tool (i.e. sCANalyser Live).

I guess you can call the hardware interface a dongle, but I like to think of more as a necessary functional interface (as that is what it primaraly is), rather than a software protection device (which is what a dongle is).

Cheers,
Hymee.

Very cool setup Hymee. If only you had come out with this last year.

I love the ribbed belt drive. Is your tensioner spring loaded?? I hope you say no, that way i'll only be appreciative instead of ticked off!

Just read up on your supercharger install. Starting to look good. I can't wait to see how it measures up and how the tuning goes.

Nice work!

Here is an update on the S/C Install:

https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...59#post2414759

I've been rather busy this last fortnight. Much to the detriment and annoyance of the sCANalyser ProTuner beta testers!

But I do need a boosted car to do my own testing...

Cheers,
Hymee.
