Well the incorrectness of the general statement aside, he does point out what the previous einsteins overlooked
5 g/s = 0.7 lb/min = 9.3 cfm
Which correlates to 1.7 mph (2.5 ft/s) @ standard
The other corresponding numbers will change substantially if you want to take the **** MAFlete approach. In reality the overall layout and design of the piping, box, filter, airhorn, etc. all influence the idle quality and need for an additional bandaid device. That's my personal experience from having hand built and tested a half dozen different tube and box configurations, rather than playing Mr. Calculator while sitting on the couch in front of the TV.

no, the turbo vs NA comment
they aren't the same per my experience/explanation
I am usually watching Discovery Channel, Military Channel, Nat'l Geographic, Animal Planet, or movie channels. Occasionally Family Guy or American Dad if I need a good laugh. Occasionally Speed Channel if there is something good on (rarely is). I would watch the Food Network too except that isn't an option in my present situation. I don't have any interest in prime time mush.

If we are going to change the plumbing in front of the MAF, this is a whole different story. But it is going to be a turbulent mess without a screen in either situation (which is by definition changing as a function of time). I don't know that you can really talk about "flow patterns" until you are in a laminar flow. I do agree with Team that putting a right-angle elbow just in front of the MAF is going to cause problems, but it is going to cause the same problems at idle whether you are boosted or not.

TV? What TV?
Hahaha, back in the early 1900s when companies were building big mechanical devices like steam engines, they did everything by experimentation. Analysis and calculations didn't exist, just lookup tables and a couple of guys who had spent their entire lives trying different cylinder, boiler and wheel combinations. Sometime in the 1950's (oh, about the time people started building rockets) people started to figure out they could predict the operation of devices with a bit of math instead of a lot of experiments (err, explosions). Greatly reduced time and cost to achieve the desired result. You can call it "Mr. Calculator" if you want, but it is going to get me to a reasonable answer much faster than pure experimentation. Not that you don't need to experiment still, but you can go into your experiment having an idea what each change is likely to do instead of blind fumbling.

In general, I'm in favor of having a Plan B. Examples: Pickup sock & fuel filter, oil filter & screen & magnets, spare tire & air pump, GPS & paper map, new battery & jumper cables,
tools, spare plugs, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, rain gear, space blanket ...
YMMV

Methinks the lady doth protest too much ... I was just making a general statement, don't take it to heart so much

I can't remember the last time I turned the TV on; maybe to watch a movie a few weeks ago? I don't know where people find time to watch it -- I never seem to have enough time to do the other stuff in my life let alone spend the 5 hours per day I'm suppose to be watching TV. If this is your thing, great. I do watch Speed at the bar when it is on, but I am more into participating in activities than watching them on TV. Heck, my 8 isn't even running right now and I'm replying to trolls on this forum, so I can't say my priorities are perfect either...

Pretty funny, they will think your being an ***, but its actually the exact answer to their question, just dont tell them that and let them search months later to find out
