Gotcha. That I believe.

The problem with saying that a turbo is capable of so much power really doesn't tell us much. There is so much more to it. I wish it were that simple. A turbo that is capable of 400 hp on a Civic engine wouldn't be good for crap on a rotary. The sizing of the turbo has everything to do with it. The Greddy turbo is basically a TD-06 based unit that they have used on many kits on many different cars. There are variations of this turbo. They are not all the exact same. Exhaust trims might be a little different or the a/r ratios could be very different and very likely with different cars. They don't just take the exact same turbo and place it in different kits. They are tweaked. The one that comes with the RX-8 kit will most certainly not make 400 hp on a rotary.

The other thing that is misleading in saying a turbo can flow enough to support X amount of power is that it doesn't tell you at what efficiency level. If you get it going fast enough and the physical amount of air can be generated but it is at an incredibly high temperature, it isn't very useful. In the same fashion the same size compressor wheel may not work the same with a different exhaust wheel/ a/r housing. If we had 2 turbos on 2 engines and both were set up the same with the exception that one had a smaller exhaust housing and more backpressure, the larger one will make more power at the same boost level. As a very general guideline, every 1 psi of exhaust backpressure needs 2 psi more of boost to overcome it. Not set in stone but a nice estimate for most cases. You can see now that it isn't only about how much the turbo flows.

Yet another thing that throws us off is the fact that a piston engine needs nearly 30% less air just to make the same power as a rotary engine. Due to it's (rotary) flow it also needs a larger exhaust wheel/housing to get the same flow through it as well. Suddenly a turbo that can support 400 hp on a piston engine can only support 266 hp on a rotary. See how the numbers are falling right into place with where the Greddy kit actually makes it's power? I'm sure you can go above this but you'll get out of it's efficiency range really fast and tuning will get VERY crucial. That turbo is perfectly designed and sized for it's intended use but that's it. They didn't leave much potential in it. It's just too small.

Do you think the time this takes is not agonizing for me?

I have always divulged new info when it comes to hand. Sorry if some of you are getting anxious.

BTW, 250RWHP is not anywhere near what they make.

Cheers,
Hymee.

The Canzoomer unit is currently being upgraded to a stage 2 map , by someone who can actually tune it properly unlike some of the so called experts who were too scared to try and tune it here in Australia , as posted elsewhere a 20 -25 hp conservative gain for a $700.00 investment is the best power to $$$ ratio so far for this car .

With the extra tools available now for reading the RX8 such as your Scanalyzer and others and the extra knowledge available i am certain that an extra 5-7 hp can be found on top of the existing figure .

cheers
michael

For one dyno run in one millsecond... I will give you that.

Try to talk to him 2 years later with 10000km in that boost. I rest my case.

If you prepare to overhaul or even rebirth your engine every 3-4 months. WHY NOT :D?

That is really thank God for some support :D

Actually 240whp is enough for me with slick, suspension and brake package.
I can bit a 996 Carrera easy and may be able to keep in touch with an 997S.

You can get a lot of power from FI'ing a NA rotary (thx timbo for spotting the mistake, that is what I mean )but is that reliable power without a lot of engine damage. Will the apex heal wears out in a month?

Can you answer me that?

Why do you want to risk your engine to some unknown side effect of boost? Why?

It is your engine. Your call.

Thanks.

I am pissing off not because you want to bust your engine. I am pissing off that you are pissed off of a 2 men FI development team. Give them a break. They need their coffee breaks :o

Well after seeing all your posts. Ciao

I suggest you go for it. Get maximum boost. And do what ever you can and open it up in 6 month and let us see what it has done! :D

You are going to buy another car anyway. Why not? Next time, go for a turbo car like EVO.

Tell you a secret. Someone in Japan by the name of Knight sport did have the supercharger running on the road at 300hp @ wheel. That was April 2004 that they are doing final "testing" and admit the problem of overheat and developing a 2 stage twin intercooler (that is direct translation of Japanese and I don't know what that mean ).

A year later .... nothing happens. Don't the Japanese anxious too yes!

Someone in Japan also put a bigger turbo than the Greddy kit but I cannot think of the model number T26Z or something similar and they dyno 400ps at flywheel. Yes it is doable. But I don't see those car / turbo kit in production yet.

You will get 400ps but reliable... hmmm

Keep up the good work Hymee/Phil

I own a 11 second ford dude :p If I wanted a fast ugly car I wouldve bought one . I'm sorry I LOVE the way the 8 looks & feels :p Just needs a bit more STICK

Can we just stop the cheap shots here? Let everybody do what they want to do. I want Ciao do go for his 300hp goal, and prove some of us wrong, if that is his goal.

Let's keep this thread talking about the Enhanced Hymee Supercharger-- please. That is what I am interested in.
