^^ You are an ***, do you realize that?

I consider BigOlundh a friend and I thought he would find this funny.

So, go away.

Besides - Sikh is not a race.
I bet you consider Jew a race as well.

You're in my house, now.
Don't be racist - you are too slow for that.

So how did i get dragged into this.

1 - The first joke by MM was funny and not racist. I'm ok with it. I did have to read it twice because i didn't have any clue what yall were talking about and also because im slow and didnt get the turbon referrence.
2 - Sikhism is not a race, but i think Moon Assad meant prejudist and not racist. Either way, i didnt find the joke to be offensive by any means. Turbans rhymes with Turbons... all is well.
3 - Moon Asaad, you have jewish friends... thats wonderful. Still doesnt make a religion a race.
4 - I'm stepping out of this battle.
5 - MM this is not your house, this is the house thank funk built by groove armada. (i doubt anyone gets that reference)

It started of as the forum title then esculated, personaly I like both turbo and superchargers, ive owned 2 turboned cars, a XR4ti and conquest. All in all I think the supercharger has given me less grieff. As for more power, pound for pound, PSI and wieght, the turbo is going to always make more power. and be lighter.

Hmmm...I am new to this forum but not new to FI, and tuning FI engines. I have had 12 to date and just recently sold my Stage II Forester XT and picked-up a new 2006 RX8. Even though I sold my Suby recently, I still own a GMC Syclone and plan on doing some kind of FI kit for the RX8 at some point.

My experience with FI over the years dating back to the mid eighties has led me to the conclusion that adding turbo systems to NA cars is a tougher game than adding a SC kit to an NA car. Especially if the engine is running a high stock compression set-up like the RX8. Obviously both methods of FI can result in catastrophic results if EM and fuel volume are not properly attended to.

In my opinion, and again its only my opinion, turbo boost is not as predictable as SC boost due to the turbo spool-up being load based as opposed to being a predictable belt-driven compressor. The heat factor that someone mentioned earlier in this thread also absolutely adds an additional element of difficulty when trying to get consistent results with a turbo kit as compared to an SC kit. In the end these variables make EM tuning much more difficult for turbocharging than Supercharging. Thats not saying its impossible, its simply saying that its more difficult. On the flip side lack of parasitic drag is an upside for turbocharging, and a downside for SC setups.

Considering the high compression nature of the RX8's rotory engine the easiest choice would be to go SC and the results will more than likely be more predictable with less likelihood of shelling your engine. Alternatively though, from a max power aspect the turbo set-up is very appealing and the Greddy kit, with the exception of some of the EM concerns, seems to be a really nice kit with a decent pricetag. Personally either way you go though, I think you have to realize that engine life and reliability may be compromised. You play...you may pay, and I have personally had some catastrophic failures that cost me some bucks in the past.

My comments are not meant to rile folks up, but I am just sharing my experiences for what they are worth. I appreciate the fact that there are some hard core RX8 owners going FI (whichever solution), and that there are several decent, well though out FI options for the RX8 that are either available or in the works. I look forward to talking with you guys in the future and working towards some power improvements for my RX8. Overall its a great car, and I am loving it, even if it is a bit down on power in stock form.

Jeff

Where do people get these ideas from?

Well...I guess from years of owning and tuning various turbo rides. Grand Nationals, Syclones, S4's, Evo's and earlier diamond star mitsu's, various subaru's, and a number of 1.8T VW's. I am not dissing turbos, I like turbos. I also understand the complexities of how they work, and that its not simple to bolt on a turbo kit to any old NA engine, especially not a high compression NA engine without the proper EM and fuel delivery needed to maintain safe AFR's.

Trust me, I know I am not a rotary engine expert, but I am trying to do searches and reading-up on the Greddy kit and Mazsport kits as well as the SC kits that appear to be close to being released. Lots of good info on the board, and hopefully I will be able to gain enough knowledge from various resources to determine the pros and cons of the various FI options for the RX8 to make the right decisions downstream.

Holy ****!!!
guys, as soon as I stepped off for a day, you all got into fight? Races religions... To me it all sounds like the issue is neither the heat from turbos, nor the drag from chargers. Looks like some here are over-spinning their shafts in neutral too much, instead of actually putting it into gear more often.

NOTE:
(please refer to a few pages earlier for more info on the technicalities of shaft overspinning, excessive hardons, turdons, turbons and other terminology commonly used with FI for RX8)

Hehe...no fights from my perspective, I just provided some input, had someone question where I got my ideas, and I responded with some background on where I got my ideas. I am new to the board, but not new to performance cars and tuning cars. I do think there is a lot of good info to be gained, and always differing opinions, attitudes, and ego's. Anyway my apologies to the group if I seemed overbearing or combative, thats not my objective. I do appreciate the info and dialogue.

Thanks

JR
