back to the OP.

I have been in a couple of turbo 8's (both Greddy setups) and also driven or ridden in 4 Pettit supercharged cars. (Been driven in the 2 Greddys, Driven 3/4 of the Pettit ones)
All the Pettit cars went great, especially my one! haha.
Of the 2 Greddys, one was good, with a nice intake whoosh, and the other was terrible, and had massive heat issues (and in fact made me feel sick, as it was like sitting in a sauna.)

I do know the owner of one other Greddy equipped car,but I haven't ridden in it though.

Lots of good advice here. I don't intend to make decisions based on the answers, but it brings out good things to keep an eye out for: for example, the heat issue that california style brought up, and that's what I am looking for.

FWIW, I am trying to track down a SC 8 somewhere nearby but it's proving to be difficult. I may have to send out an APB next time I am in Florida. I do intend to try out a few before deciding.

I guess I still haven't learned that it's not possible to keep threads on topic and away from flames on this site!

The difference between a NA car and a TC Greddy kit, is the same difference as a TC Greddy kit and the 3071R upgrade kit.

In general :

*If you like the the characteristics of an NA 8 - you will like a supercharger .
*If you prefer more grunt low lown you will like a turbo better
*A turbo car with the same peak hp as a SC car will be quicker by a fair margin
*Mysql exaggerates

This is a point that is demonstrative of the torque curve shape.

Prove it.

What you have is a slightly upgraded greddy turbo. Even when I talked to Scott about it (before I got the 3071R), he told me the upgrade would not result with much gain, if any.

What you have is nothing like the 3071R. Not by a long shot.

/\ people get paranoid about stuff when it goes wrong and they don't understand why . It's kinda like when you take your car to a mechanic to get the brakes changed but when it comes back the motor is playing up so you blame the mechanic because you never really understood what he was doing to your car.

Being an ex engineer I like to know what went wrong and why before I point the finger .

Do you honestly think there is no difference between the Mazsport and the BHR coils?

You are ignoring the people that have owned both. I really wish the Mazsport coils worked because it really sucked to spend 600$ on useless coils. If they worked as advertised I would have been perfectly happy to keep them.

what were your issues with the coils , what engine management/dwell setting you used .
What happened when you changed over .

I used the AccessPort with custom map by MM with proper dwell settings for the Mazsport coils. My car never felt that powerful at 9psi and I was always wondering if the coils were the cause. I was only able to pull off a 1/4mile time of 14.2 @ 98mph with 1.9 60ft.

After installing the BHR coils I got all that lost power back. My car feels so strong now and the engine is so much smoother. A before/after dyno would have been incredible I am sure.

brettus i understand your logical point of view about it, but the thing is, its not a matter of IF it can happen, rather if it will happen to you.....

It's just that there remains unanswered questions about this issue and everyone is jumping on the (they are no good) bandwagion without all the facts .

Ok i'll admit that i'm pissed that i spent so much money on something that could be useless ...

yeah i think for a second that there is any conclusive evidence out there. but just the knowledge of what could go wrong with them, which has been speculated to have happened to people already, would scare me. i mean considering the consequences...
