Well, not quite. I've checked the compression with a Rotary Diagnostic compression tester and found both front and rear rotors, compression normalized for test RPM, have below the Mazda threshold for compression. Roughly 86 PSI for the front, and 75 PSI for the rear.

So this is my second engine, the first one grenaded due to the OMP improper oil injection. The second one, well, I don't know, just started losing compression. Was a used engine from an '04 that probably was also experiencing the lack of oil injection problem too, at least that is what I think happened. Never could get it tuned right, so I wonder why? (sarcasm).

Bottom line is that I'm heavily considering doing a V-8 swap. Having Hinson Supercars local to me makes that even more likely as they have just about completed their LS-X swap kit. I know...traitor. I love the way they run when they run right, but to get serious power cost serious money unless you find some good deals.

So, I'm interested in selling the engine (pulled right now), transmission with new ACT clutch, BHR coil uprgrade, Greddy turbo kit, Cobb AP, Mazsport CAI, Synapse BOV, and Sohn OMP adapter. I also have two spare parts transmissions, probably could build a good one from them both, and a disassembled engine (my first engine), as well as an E-Manage Ultimate and wiring harness. I also have a Cooling-Mist failsafe alky system, with the required RPM sensor that I can get rid of too. I'd sell it all to someone if interested as a batch. I need to determine the price. I might break some of it up to sell too. Any interested parties feel free to contact me. I have a long list of engine parts laying around from my first engine as well. UIM, OMP, etc.

Did you have the greddy kit on your first engine?

AL Yep, had it on there..

My first engine suffered from the lack of oil injected problem. I was unaware of the issue until after I put it on (thanks to my ex wife who failed to send the recall notice until several months later after it came to her). My analysis is the same problem with the current engine. It was from an 04 as well, and it appears from compression testing that it is just weak. All rotor faces very close compression on the front, as well as the rear, with only a difference between the front and rear, as is usually the case anyway I think. It is definitely rebuildable. Front faces were all very close to 85 PSI., rear all about 75. still below min spec though. I'm gonna sell it all, and either put in a V6 or V8. I have someone who pm'd me who has done the V8 swap and is willing to help in that area. Good to have someone's prior experience available. Hinson Supercars is nearby as well, about 15 minutes away, and will be a useful resource. My loss will be someone's gain who wishes to go turbo or needs a plethora of spare parts. It's a nice setup, but I just want something straight forward that I can easily repair myself, and easily get reliably tuned. Sure hate all the dough I spent on it, but it's all paid for, and I can just do whatever I feel with it. Don't have to worry bout those bank payments. I hope some interest in the parts will be found here first. Otherwise, I'll put it all on eBay, piece by piece if I have to. Got a lot of good parts. I'll put it all up on the for sale section.
