Finally, the manifold it's ready..............................

Now we're goin to insulate the manifold and all the hoses that goes near
the hot side of the turbo.

I just mounted the manifold and the turbo and taked a few pictures because a lot of people ask me to tell them about our progress..............

The hardest think was the manifold and is done, now we would make the down pipe (that is not a big issue) and the other pipes that goes from the turbo to the intercooler.

I also finished a piece to install the mechanic throttle....................

why a mechanic throttle? can't the computer you're using control the throttle by wire?

I prefer mechanical throttle for quick respond..............................

I'm using two ECU's one for the engine and the factory one to control
the gauges, rack & pinion, air conditioning, etc, etc.

The factory ECU also controls the factory electronic throttle, that's the main reason
to change it..............

It's just a paint that can handle high temperatures.............
As I mention I just put it and take a few pictures, this is not finished!

I'm goin to wrap it with black heat disipation wrap.
We also need to insulate a lot of hoses.........................
we're working on that and making the down pipe..........

If any whant to help us, it would be a pleasure to welcome you!

it's joking.........

ok, to reach 300 whp, you need more than greddy turbo, I just got double barring Innovative custom turbo, and it pushes 337 whp, i will pass the dyno chart as soon as i tune it and i expect it to gain around 20 more whp.

interesting^^^

I understand you're pushing 337whp at peak, what about avg hp gains across the board?

Haha. That's what I was thinking! With only 17 posts, this guy is definitely a darkhorse. I hope he comes through, though!

Who cares about peak hp?

Peak hp is clearly not the only factor when considering the performance difference between two different setups. It's all about the shape of the curve. Who gives a damn if you peak @ 1000hp between 8245 and 8247 rpms?

I think IZoomZoomI asks a damn good question in fact, because what he's asking for illustrates the potentially bursty/peaky nature of the curve in question.

Let's compare the following two HP curves:

Car #1 - 400hp max
- Curve #1 - 200hp constant until 8K rpms; 400hp 8K to 10K rpms.
Car #2 - 300hp max
- Curve #2 - 300hp constant until 10K rpms.

Answer this: which one is better? Taking the integral of each hp curve would tell us way more info than a simple outlier value like max hp. (If you've never taken calculus, by integral I mean finding the area underneath the curve.)

avg. hp for curve #1 = 200 * 8/10 + 400*2/10 = 160 + 80 = 240 hp
avg. hp for curve #2 = 300 * 10/10 = 300 hp

I suppose some people would say DANG! Yo! 400hp duh! But in reality, this may not be the case (unless you're in a race track that demands 8K to 10K rpms throughout). It all depends on the how often that power is available and for how long. When you factor these things, you start to see the big differences between curves. Why hasn't anyone come up with a friggin standard for this?

<== warning: soy boricua tambien :D

Yep,

On our last tune we prefer to sacrify 10HP at peak and win and extra 30 HP between
3K-4K rpms.

Sometimes people thinks only in peak horse power and believe that the car with the highest peak horse power is goin to win..........................................
I see it always on the race track, two cars of the same model and the car with a lower peak HP winning over the car with a higher HP.

I have been wondering the exact same thing. It isn't that hard to calculate any of this.. all the stupid dyno software needs to do is calculate it while it has the data and one would have a lot more information about the "quality" of the tune.

This is taking a more custom work that the one I was thinking

Here is a picture for a custom work that we needed to do to make some space for the down pipe. This is not finished yet but we're near to make the final works. We would continue the insulation process today, we spec to turn on the car on Tuesday or Wednesday then the tuning works begins

There is also a picture of our new mechanical throttle.

Question

Manuel: Any updates on your car? The round of golf is pending, I hope it stops raining in November.

We started the car last friday.

Everything looks OK Galdy "the mechanic" don't find any leaks or something wrong.
Unlucky Javier (the tuner) was so busy on his regular job and he can't visit
the shop on friday or saturday.
I'm goin to call him tomorrow morning to see if he can go on the afternoon.
The problem is that with the new mechanical trottle we need
to reprogram the ecu.
I plan to run the car on 9-10 psi of boost for at least 500 miles to see how respond
and then put it same as before, 14 psi of boost.

Finally I'm using the car...........................

It feels 100 % different, I'm goin to enjoy this new turbo!

The throttle respond is a 100% better with the new mechanical throttle.
I'm goin to drive it for at least 500 miles for a brake in at low boost.
Once I see no problem we're goin to put it on the dyno, this would be next week.

I taked a few pictures.......................
this is not the final job we need to polish a few parts and work on some welds
that I like to give a better finish.
