Yes, I plan to Dyno my car eventually. Yes, I am going for above 350rwhp. Yes, eventually I plan to take my car down the 1/4 mile. Until then we can only speculate.

Can't wait to see those results. Hell, maybe that'll motivate me to do a pass with the Pettit kit at the local strip.

2 questions.
1-has anyone ever done any maf hacking on the 8
2- how much does a properly tuned water/meth system lower the a/f's
thanks

I would suspect that the A/F would the same...and the meth/water inj would be to lower charge temps as a prevention for detonation.......

That would be a lot safer than tuning WITH the safety net ON...and having it fail

A far as MAF hacking...we can do it now if we can reflash the tables!

reflashing the ECU with recalibrated MAF tables and such isn't exactly MAF hacking. It's more just proper tuning off the MAF. I suspect by MAF hacking OD was more alluding to clamping the MAF and trying to trick the PCM into seeing different readings.

I can rescale the MAF with the E-Manage. The AP from Cobb will have this ability as well. (I'll be able to comment on its efficacy in a few days.)
However, you would have to be running a sh*t-load of boost (flow) before it was necessary.
Even at the torque peak (where airflow is the highest), I only hit 4.6v on my system.
That last .4v is a LOT of air.

"Typical" meth applications don't see any serious changes in A/F.

I guess i meant what a/f does a tuned water meth kit mimic? i have heard approx 2 points.
by maf hacking i meant reducing or enlarging the maf pipe to to change conditions, modifying the maf body itself to do the same thing.

With the advent of the Cobb AccessPORT and the various advancements in the available FI kits, I thought it was a good time to bump this thread.

Topic du jour:

What are the various Pettit people seeing as an actual boost response curve?
Phil recently upgraded his bypass valve to a billet piece that seems to produce a significant over-boost.
Prior to that, he was having a significant under-boost.
Since the SC doesn't care about what the motor wants in regards to air mass, that would seem to indicate that the BPV plays a significant part in deciding on the function of the system.
Has anyone else actually verified the function of the supplied BPV?
What are the actual manifold pressures at WOT and various RPMs?

Has anyone other than Phil reported the higher boost #'s?

I'm sure that I am only the first to admit setting up for a highr boost. Keep in mind that my new bypass was set for the "factory" boost setting and has not yet been adjusted. I would hope that someone has already played with the boost and found the perfict setting. If not then Ray and Jeff will work their asses off trying to find it.

Why do you think Juan isn't reporting higher #'s?? Is it because he is not using the springs?

"The power in the Mazda Wankel rotary engine exhaust has been talking to us for 30 years.
It has been saying. "Hook me to turbine, hook me to a turbine, hook me to
a turbine." Anybody that has been around a Mazda rotary powered race car
without a muffler can understand the tremendous kinetic energy in the exhaust.
I have a race car driver friend by the name of John Morton who claims he
has permanent hearing damage from driving rotary powered race cars.

It was not until I read that SAE paper on the R3350 TC that I could put
a number on it. It then hit me like a supersonic shock wave. Yes of
course it has plenty of kinetic energy in the exhaust.

Now comes the time to harness all those super sonic horses.

Think of the Wankel rotary as an ideal gas generator for a turbine
engine. A marriage made in heaven."

Ray, for the sake of public discussion, what would be simpler than the current routing of the flapper valve??
