Does fuel pump upgrade affect Tuning?

I'm just wondering...if I were to upgrade my stock fuel pump to Mazsport's...would it in anyway affect the tuning of my car?

I'm driving a JDM '04 RX8 AT with Re-Amemiya's version of the Greddy Turbo Kit. (includes Re-Flash/Bigger Injectors/EMU/slightly different turbo piping)

My car was dyno/road tuned by the technical team of Amemiya themselves...which explains why I'm pretty paranoid about messing up their settings.

Could I just do a swop and enjoy better boost reliability, w/o requiring any re-tune? It would be way too expensive to invite the Japs over to Singapore for the tuning again.

Any idea guys? Any input from Rotorygod would be good!

The fuel pump would be fine to switch. I don't know if you were even close to maxing it out, but if you weren't, then there isn't really any point in changing it.

The thing that would need different tuning would be for the injectors.

I am not FI'd but I have been studyin the fuel system. I would suggest a fuel system upgrade to anyone that FI's. Scott;s system is good with a rising rate regulator and a better system of keeping the fuel unit supplied with gas.(never have a fuel starvation with a FI car!). It would seem lodgical that a re-tune would be advisable as the better fuel delivery(new regulator etc) would make a higher/smoother engine response possible.

I installed one of our units on a car with a factory computer,Revi intake and stock cat last week and it worked perfectly! The unit does include a rising rate regulator so if you are N/A the pressure is based on manifold vac. and if you decide on forced induction there is plenty of volume and pressure for major horspower increases.

Are you thinking of just changing the pump or going to a return system with a new regulator? Any change that affects fuel pressure at the injector is going to affect your tune.

as long as the fuel pressure stays consistent to the previous pump then the tune will not change, any fluctuations in fuel pressure and the car will need a retune

I've never heard of anyone needing an upgrade unless they are pulling some serious hp

If you FI this car/engine you would be extremely wise to upgrade the fuel system. From what I understand it doesn't take much of a "lean" condition to really mess your fi engine up. The stock system has issues. If you are going to spend the money and time to fi --then do it right--upgrade the fuel system and the cooling system. You will be glad you did.
