Ok, this should be in the other thread, but what the hell. I test drove it with the new CAI, and finally, for the first time since what seems to be months ago since my first post, my car runs normal.

The pinned at 10.0 under load is gone and the misfires from being rich are GONE. I've tried the 3.0x series, the 3c0, and the 3b0x series and none would work well with the GReddy maf housing.

Now I went back to 3.0, drove around the block and should go with 3._2b or 3_3b so what the hell, i just went with 3_3b. After one drive cycle, I had to go home, up the big hill but was very careful and only went WOT for a very short time and was careful about it, and it was actually a little bit lean I think. Anyhow, this was not possible at all with my old maf housing (greddy).

I still didn't put the screen in either.

I like that this is a true CAI and gets air from the cooler front of the car.

It will also get wet and require ALOT more maintenance to keep clean.

Nah, not particularly.
The intercooler does a lot to stop the flow of junk.
It will require regular maintenance, though.

I was worried a bit about accessibility, but it's not too bad at all, with that plastic underpan below it and intercooler in front of it. I don't think it's going to be covered in mud or anything. And for maintenance, the bumper and intercooler come off quite easily and fast. Actually, I guess we can just take the plastic underpan to get at it!

Anyone doing this DIY might as well get all new couplers for the kit also. I was thinking of even ditching that cast aluminum 2.5" 90 degree elbow on the driver's side of the intercooler with a silicone 90. It might be pricey but at least you're buying one coupler and two clamps instead of two and four. These stock greddy couplers are already falling apart on me, with the fiber reinforcement showing.

Regular rain should not be a problem, it would take you driving your car in a lake and stalling it there to be an issue. Also a Volant Pre-Filter may be an option if you are worried about dirt, but the position of the air filter should mean that you will not have this problem either.

I just think that CAI is better for performance. A ram CAI (like Racing Beat), even better... Air is "free". I just think that unnecessarily hot air or not enough air, should not be the limiting factors on your car.

I agree that getting at the air filter from the plastic underpan, would be the fastest way to go.

I currently have a tube that goes into my intake filter. Once I install the new Mazsport CAI that tube will have nowhere to connect to. I ordered an oil catch can that will free up a connection on the lower intake tube but I wont have it for a few more weeks.

Suggestions?

you can either weld a fitting on the intake tube or even thread a brass fitting from a hardware store to the intake tube (similar to the fitting method for the turbo outlet pipe)

no, 2 hoses to the intake tube after the maf, and the third is vented to an oil catch can.

you really don't want sludge oil going into your intake, through your turbo and filling up your intercooler.

Yep, I know that already but I wont have a catch can for a few more weeks.

So everyone that upgraded their intake now use a catch can?

no, I didn't route my crankcase oil vapors to my intake for over a year. That would be silly.

$60 local here in Orlando, FL @ Murray speed shop (aka American), it even matched my car color! Ordered 2 more to replace the Windshield washer and to add the SOHN 2-stroke oil.... A little over $200 for the 3 is not a bad price... Chrome also, very nice.

Pics of can how it comes (radiator reservoir) can be converted into oil catch, 2-stroke or even washer fluid, you can do all 4 if you'd like. Im not doing the radiator reservoir as it will leave a nasty hole next to battery

I converted the 1st one I bought for my SOHN 2-stroke oil...

turborx8 did you do fix # 2? I highly recommend that fix done, ASAP. I noticed you still have eManage's pressure switch? Also some check valves are highly recommended..

I bought an extra washer fluid tank for $20 shipped, will sell for same price if anybody is interested... Not the one pictured, it's black... The one pictured is the original one, keeping that one.

Fix # 2 is the wastegate fix if im not mistaken. That's the one I am talking about. And no, you don't need it with the AccessPORT but it does help your boost controller if you have one.

Fix 2 is not specific for any management. It's purpose is to give proper pressure to the wastegate.

I saw his point of view, since AP doesn't use pressure to calculate how much fuel to use then it's not needed. I recommend it, overspooling is not good in any situation. Another thing would be if he has a boost controller or not.. In any situation I think it's a must...

How is the VIBRANT 3.5 with MAF flange coming along??? Very interested in one of these! Going with the DIY solution cutting 1/2 and clamping it to a 3.5 tube for now....

Well, here it is, the DIY Ultimate Greddy Turbo CAI version II (a lot shinier, using a Vibrant 3.5 18" cut in 1/2, made 2 out of 1.) It actually looks good! Keeping this one!!!
