i wish Chris
Kevin is correct (i think he may have cheated )
it was on this car
and here is the SC that used to be attached to the IM
Its a roots- why they didn't try a twin screw we'll never know- and who knows maybe they did since they had done a turbo as well on a different car.
that is a bypass
and the intercooler
the piping to the intercooler was really short the straight from the SC into one side and right in to the SC on the other..
that IM was really well done. the secondary was cut into in the original section and they machined it back into the flange. kept the aux as well but the vdi was removed.

you can blend that in fact if i ever get around to actually doing it ive talked to a aluminum fabricator guy i know who'll make one up for me, weld it on and blend it in for me (although i could do the grind and smoothing myself)

I do work in a sheetmetla shop and work wiht aluminum alot. I am wondering if i could take a stock hood and modify the "rotor" shape in the middle to make a functional opening that looks like this. Maybe when my project list gets shorter i will have to try it on a second hood.

there was a .au magazine article pre-rx-8 release that discussed the manifold options mazda tried out. they had pictures of the test manifolds. mazda tested many designs even plenum's and finally settled on the long smooth runners.
I can see how it would benefit a SC but would turbos and N/A really benefit? I can also see it causing problems with a MAF based system.
