Which is crazy. The international market for this product would be very large. Perhaps some pro-tuners in Japan might become interested. Well, if Hymee does not come out with an international version of his product.

Might not work on Canaduh vehicles. The PCM calibrations are identified by flash level and VIN. You guys are different, no matter how bad you wish it was America.

No bow - it was just a UPS box. I'll pop it open in a little while. I've got some other matters to take care of first.
I'm waiting on a download of the newest build of the AT software at the moment.

Back on topic the cobb unit is very easy on the eyes I must say... it looks like a video game and like in a video game when you lose you die but this is isn't a fake character in a game its your car and if you lose you just blew your engine.

The best bet (IMnsHO) is to purchase the Cobb AP from an authorized tuner/retailer that can provide you with an appropriate FI tune, rather than tinkering with it yourself unless you are really psyched about tuning it yourself and not worried about blowing your motor.

Really, if you are ever "worried" about blowing your motor, aftermarket FI isn't for you, anyway.

I'm waiting on a download of the newest build of the AT software at the moment.
I'm perplexed why the Cobb AccessPort would restrict to be used only in the U.S. based on flash level and VIN? (that should not matter except for tying the use of the AccessPort to a specific car).

Other upcoming re-flash solutions would simply upload the flash, allow for editing of various parameters of the flash, and then allow that flash to be downloaded back to the car. The difference being that those solutions are PC based and editing is done on a computer versus the device itself which is simply transferring data and recording it.

I'm confused about what is so different with the Cobb AccessPort that it does not have this type of "universal" functionality with flashes and different PCMs.

You would not want to take a JDM flash and flash a U.S. or European car with it. However, there is no reason not to upload a JDM flash on a JDM car, edit it, and then download it back. Note- There would also be a lot to learn from viewing the JDM flash as well and comparing it to the US flash, even if you were not going to overwrite your car's ECU with it.

The AccessPort is an OBD-II device, just like the other upcoming re-flash solutions.

The limitation for US ECU only does not appear to be the AccessPort hardware. Nor would the limitation be the Cobb StreetTuner software, since the parameters it is working with should be the same regardless of JDM ECU, US ECU, Europe, etc... PC based software adjustments based on market, should be pretty easy too.

It seems the "restriction" is the firmware/software of the AccessPort hardware. Meaning the Cobb programmers expect to only see certain PCMs and have created the program on the AccessPort to work only within those specifications.

However, a lot of what the AccessPort is doing is "fancy displays" of real time data and data logging. The use of all the data display while driving is subject to debate. Other OBD-2 devices can do this, like the scanguage 2, just at a much lower level. There are other OBD-2 devices that are data loggers (;-)). The other issue being the willingness of the company to support ECUs that they can't directly test. However that is more to do with the company not having "agents" and distributors in those other markets, than a limit of the OBD-2 based AccessPort hardware.

The main strength of the AP is its ProTUNER software.
I wish I could show you screen shots. Its amazing.
The limitations that you mention are a kill joy. For sure.
I'd love to send these things overseas.

Well, I'm not the problem with the AT software. That's Cobb's hold-up.
As soon as the 4-port version is out, I will bring it.
