No results yet ....... just weighing up whether to get the engine rebuilt next time i take the turbo out or not .

Ran at around 9psi on the track day . The other turbo rx8 was running 8 .... so needed just enough to pass him ....... lol. . Seemed pretty happy there and still kept up with some quick machinery at that boost.

Engine is coming out. Decided to do some overdue maintenance before I take this project any further .
This is what I'm thinking of doing:

Engine : Freashen up seals to regain compression , mild porting , balance .

Gearbox : replace existing 5 speed with new (second hand ) 5 speed . Existing one graunches into 2nd , 5th and reverse.

Clutch : replace clutch with ???

Turbo : convert back to 1.01 twin scroll , adjust compressor to housing side clearance .

Hopefully I'll get better spoolup with all that done but even if i don't I've decided i can live with the power and spoolup i have now.

400rwhp on a Renesis is definitely good enough I admire the effort you went thru to test this out!

Yah, I think I could live with 400 whp.

In fact, I'll be ecstatic if I can get 300 when I go turbananas.

Augh "Renedis"! I hate when I see my spelling mistakes in quotes lol...

Ya, too much time under the car gets old after awhile, then for some reason we can't wait to get back to it... At least I feel that way at times... Good thing it snows here, it forces me to garage the car so I know I have wrench time coming up

Are you getting dowelling or studs done? What port configuration are you planning. Most seem to follow the racing beat mild port

^ that will be me soon. My garage is 6m deep so trying to figure out how to get the engine out. I was thinking of parking it at an angle as well. Just need enough room at the front so the winch can get the engine out.

Another idea is to add a pulley and roll the car back.

Is there any difference between the Rx7 style corner seals vs Renesis? Because they list a different part number for the Renesis specific corner seals and they are solid as well.

04-11 Rx8 Atkins Solid Corner Seal Set (ARE112)

Rotary Aviation markets solid corner seals too. They however don't list if its for early 13B's or Renesis. Just "2mm for 13B" engines so thats why I wonder if theres a difference between the two since Atkins has different part numbers but RA lists theirs as 2mm for 13B's.

NEW!!! 13B 2mm RA Solid Corner Seals - Rotary Aviation
.com

EDIT: Just realized from the pics that the Rx7 corner seal looks to have a deeper groove. I'm guessing to allow a longer apex seal?? Meaning you'll have to mill the rotors for longer seals?

Apparently those corner seals I linked are no good for a Renesis either .... as the side iron contact area isn't big enough and can cause gouging around the exhaust ports . They shouldn't have that recess in them ..........

Mine has around 100000kms on it . Clutch plate itself has plenty left but would have failed catastrophically very soon .
