Boost Problems, advice?

Hello, I recently installed a Greddy turbo kit on my 8, car runs good, sometimes it runs great, I have an E01 installed to monitor and control boost. The boost is very inconsistant, sometimes it will run 7-8 psi then drop to 5psi, which is what its supposed to do, then sometimes all of a sudden it will only boost 5psi then drop to about 2-3, It happens at random, the power is great when its boosting right, It seems like my boost controller changes nothing like i cant raise the boost at all. I have ran without the boost controller and it does the same. Do you think its the bearings? its not smoking or leaking oil that i know of. Where can I get a good rebuild kit? it thats what it comes down to.

Thanks in advance!

Jesse

RI don't work with RX-8's on a regular basis but I am a volvo technician and most volvo's are booster so maybe I can help you out. First thing to check is to make sure you dont have a loose vacuum or pressure hose between the wastegate diaphragm and your E01 you have installed. Assuming that all your plumbing is secure and properly installed the next place to go would be to the wiring of the boost controller you have. Oh, but you said it does it with or without your controller. nevermind. Maybe your wastegate actuator is getting stuck open under certain conditions. Check the basics and go from there.

It sounds like you have a boost leak. Check all the connecting pipes and vacuum hoses to make sure they are snug. Also on the boost control solenoid, make sure the extra plug is off.

Boost

Hello, I think the wastgate is getting stuck on it, I adjusted it out a little, but it still sometimes does it, not as often, anyway to keep it unstuck, it does not look like anything is rubbing, some lube maybe?

Thanks for all your help also,
Jesse
