ELI063 01-14-2011 08:58 PM

sweet!!!!!

nate340 01-14-2011 10:44 PM

one of the fastest street rx8's in the world and looks completely stock minus the intercooler, so many highly modded rx8's running around with less than 200whp. this will do the rx8 community well.

FazdaRX_8 01-15-2011 12:39 AM

Looks good, Great video!!!
so is the OMP relocated or removed,
if relocated then to where?

MazdaManiac 01-15-2011 12:57 AM

Relocated to the firewall behind the washer bottle. It is non-functional. It just tells the PCM what it wants to hear about its presence and operation.

Interesting

I wonder if turblown plans to remedy this

also is the O2 Before or after the turbo?

MazdaManiac 01-15-2011 01:50 AM

I believe the "remedy" is call pre-mix.
I'm sure there are plans to come up with a downpipe scheme that allows for the OMP and the APV motor.

Shhhh! Dont tell anybody...:blue:

Jamaalsmith 01-15-2011 03:02 AM

Havent gotten the chance to drive her yet, but ma Pops says it has MOUNTains of power/torque everywhere in the range, and pins him to his seat upon accelleration, that there is hardly any lag, and i quote " it is the most powerful machine [he] has ever driven"

He ALSO says that she's quite thirsty...but that probably has much to do with him "testing her out" ;)

I considered that...but i hear paint messes with heat transfer...

09Factor 01-15-2011 10:55 AM

Hey Jamaal, it's time to drop your ride. I know stock looking sleepers rule,:evil_laug, but that wheel gap, has to go. i hated mine.

Edit:
Turblown, I still think right after the 'What is your RX-8 Missing" text, Elliot should pop out and say BOOOOOOOOOOOOOSSSSSSSSTTTTT !

I don't believe anodizing will.

Kane 01-15-2011 11:31 AM

alnielsen is correct.

Also a very thin coat of paint is fine, it isn't the color it is the thickness that messes it up.

JETS3T8 01-15-2011 12:28 PM

Star Trek Theme... Good job on the vid Turblown!

From a standing start, without revving it up, is there a lot of wheel spin if you stomp on it? If so, up to what gear?

dannobre 01-15-2011 12:44 PM

And intercoolers act more as heat sinks anyway :).....

sauceyI986 01-15-2011 06:33 PM

Just thought I chime in... progress has been real good over the coming year from people only getting 220whp from greedy kits now 450hp with turblown.

With this talk about boosting and HP numbers make me so anxious to get mine finished and I do believe that 500hp will happen in the near future. Well at least that's what I'm aming for with my current build.

Mine is actually BBE coated from Swaintech which is supposed to help with heat dissipation and leaves the intercooler black.

sauceyI986 01-18-2011 08:23 AM

Um just checking out the engine bay pics does this ride still have the stock radiator.

I did the Tein S-Techs. they provide a nice drop, with a good ride. Also have the Tokico D-Specs adj shocks.

Yes, stock radiator.

olddragger 01-19-2011 08:48 AM

go ahead an prepare for the need of extra cooling before the summer temps get here:)
OD

sauceyI986 01-19-2011 09:24 AM

Just asking when I pulled the the hoses my just split and cracked... and yes keeping that baby cool will make u happier on the long run.

FazdaRX_8 01-19-2011 12:30 PM

How is the water injection setup, and what kind of flow is the nozzle?

Jamaalsmith 01-20-2011 02:13 AM

Right now, nothin...i THINK we're using the smallest nozzle in the kit. E, feel free to jump in. The water/meth is currently disconnected from power. The tune is pretty solid and can get along fine without it...its there purely for safety at this point. I'll let you kno when i actually get to DRIVE the thing...

As for cooling, apparently the Iconel shielding is really keeping the underhood temps down, so i shouldnt have to worry about cracking hoses that much. But as for the increased demand on the cooling system i plan on getting a vented hood/new bumper with bigger inlets (nothing too flashy, tryin to keep that semi-sleeper appearance) Perhaps a BHR Rad in the future...

Jamaalsmith 01-20-2011 02:22 AM

Currently the solution is almost 100% water (had to have windsheild wiper fluid) for the trip home! But in the summer i've been advised to add meth to the mix.

NgoRX8 01-20-2011 02:34 AM

Most premixed washer fluid is typically about 30% meth. There is a lot of additives and dyes in it though that can deposit in the pump, nozzles, etc.

Jamaalsmith 01-20-2011 03:47 AM

Yes....but i think its water mixed with wiper fluid. Fazda i think i misunderstood your q the first time...lol are you asking if it sprays before or after the turbo or intercooler? that kindof thing?

FazdaRX_8 01-20-2011 12:43 PM

Manly how its hooked, like pehaps a hobb switch set to turn on pump @ 5psi?
If its a pressure switch or a siliniod? And the flow of the nozzle, I have a setup that flows 330cc I was just wondering if that is enough.

I tried the windshild wiper fluid -30 for a while in another car it seemed to work but left alot of deposits behind, you should be able to find methanol at most hardware stores. Mix with distilled water and your golden

methanol off the shelf ? WOW !

Not something you would see here - in fact you can't even buy distilled water readily .

9krpmrx8 01-20-2011 02:54 PM

Nice, now that power is sorted you can work on wheels and coilovers :) Nice ride and sick power.

Damn MM, nice tune. Those AFR's when pegged on the dyno look perfect.

The benefit of a live dyno tune.

Hmm. I wonder what the NZ govt is worried about impacting by making distilled water a regulated commodity?
It is about $2 for 3 gallons here.

FazdaRX_8 01-20-2011 04:01 PM

Its .95 all the time at every food store here

Dumb question time - apart from radiator water etc - what do people there use distilled water for ?

That is why it's not sold here - no-one would know what to do with it .
