Almost broke in the 13's------ Comparison at 7,6,5 PSI and stock

One pic is worth 1000 words. My best was 14.3 @ 6 PSI... I tried with 7 PSI AND GOT 14.0.

I have not tuned the car yet. Will be doing it this weekend. I got very consistent times.

Thats great that you almost broke 13s. I'm looking more at the fact that you knocked off 1.3 seconds, and trapped about 8mph faster. I'd like to see what that baby can do tuned, and at 8psi. Good job!

just to let you know i am paying attention. test driving for whom???

i just broke into the 14.7 @ 94.3 with revi on 87 oct gas. found that shifting at 9k keep the hp and trap speed up.

look at your hp peak, and shift there.

cant wait till you get it dialed in.

I'm a little confused...(maybe I missed something)

The stock 8 should be getting 14.5's in the 1/4 mile so what 1.3sec are we talking about here? So far the best Turbo times I've seen is 14 flat (which he matched with his G-Tech) so what 1.3sec are we talking about.

NOW...do you mean from his original times? So...he was running 15.8's in the 1/4 mile before?

Did I miss something?

He was running 15.3 STOCK, then 14.0 w/ Greddy @ 7 PSI.

Keep in mind he's in Calgary (higher elevation) so his times won't be as good as someone at sea level. There's other factors, too, like if he has **** in his trunk or a full gas tank, type of tires,...

So one could assume that if you could do 14.3 STOCK, then you might be able to do 13.0 w/ Greddy @ 7 PSI? I dunno...

PS. If you look at the charts he posted it'll make sense what he's talking about, rx8wannahave.

Yep Calgary is VERY VERY HIGH. It is assumed that almost 15-20% power is lost due to altitude. There is no consistent proof that a stock 8 can do 14.5. Polak did it once (14.6) but nobody else has shown those results. Everybody in in high 14's or low 15's. My best there was 15.3, so if you compare apples to apples then my car knocked off 1.3s. Math is easy. Dont compare other cars to my car because there are many factors involved. Fuel, Driver, Weight, Mods, clutch release, etc. I did these runs the closest i could, launching the clutch at 5K in all of them. I have not lowered my tyre pressure like some people do running in high 14's stock. Maybe that will put me in the 13's because of better traction. What u have to compare is me against me in the three stages. You can see HP increase at every level of boost, and the times. I also was not in a drag strip, therefore I did not have rubber laid down in the starting point. I was in a flat road, which i consider very good to do 1/4 miles run. However If i had rubber laid down, I could launch way better. I did 5.4 in 0-60 and 330' in 5.9 (compared to my best run 0-60 in 5.5 and 330' in 6.0) once but I had to lift because I saw a police car coming.. That would have been a 13 for sure, maybe 13.8 maybe 13.9..But here it is the comparison of that run against my best 1/4 mile of 14.0 . I will do some more runs today and hope to get at least 13.9.

Can u see the consistency of the runs? You can barely see the difference, that is why i think gtech is running fine.

Gotta put this in perspective. Just because some magazine says the RX8 ran a 14.5, doesn't mean you can take it to every track & it will run a 14.5. They ran a 14.5 at that particular track, with those conditions. If he is at a higher elevation or a particularly hot day then his 1/4 mile times suffer. You should look more at what he did before the turbo & afterwards, not some arbitrary 14.5 #. His initial run was a 15.3, his final run was a 14 flat, hence the 1.3 seconds.

Also isn't this 14.0 run according to a g-tech?

Yep, but the 15.3 was according to the same Gtech. Very constant.
I took it to the dragstrip and did a 15.2 the same day. Very close.

Something to consider,

Just because Lschiavo got these kind of gains from the turbo, at this high elevetion, we shouldn't expect those same kind of gains at lower elevations. Turbos eliminate much of the power loss seen at higher elevations, just by their very nature.

I'm sure you've all considered this already, but I thought I'd put in a word or 2.

Nice gains all the same though. How's around town driveability?
