300 series turbo kits
About two years ago at Mazsport we started selling and installing our turbo kits for the RX-8 and during that time we have received numerous emails and phone calls from customers who love the looks and the high quality components but were finding the price tag just out of reach. The requests have continued and now that more engine management systems are in the marketplace we have decided to offer our turbo systems in a more cost effective "tuner" package.
We will now be offering our type 1 or type 3 turbo kits in a 300rwhp package. This approach will allow Mazsport to provide you with the EXACT SAME high quality components as our standard kits making the upgrade a dyno proven sequence of steps. When you want more power just pickup the telephone and we will be happy to answer questions and advise you of the required components to achieve your desired power levels.
The typical upgrade path:
300rwhp- Either the type1 or 3 kit and you provide your choice of engine management
330rwhp- Either the type1 or 3 kit and a boost controller or larger wastegate spring
350-375rwhp- Add the remaining injectors, fuel pump, Interceptor-X and our Ignition Solution!
400rwhp- add race gas and turn up the boost
Unlike smaller frame turbo's and manifolds you will not be required to replace components of the kit to reach the next power level, you simply upgrade to the required components. We have dyno'd our kits at 380RWHP and by adding the components listed above you can determine how fast is fast enough.
Below is a description of the Type 1 kit contents.
* Dual ball bearing water and oil T-4 flange turbo
* Stainless steel oil feed and return lines with required fittings
* Stainless steel water feed and return lines with required fittings
* Stainless steel 44mm Tial wastegate with v-band clamps
* Stainless steel custom made tubular turbo manifold
* Stainless steel downpipe w/standard 3bolt triangular flange
* Stainless steel v band clamp
* #1 charge tube
* #2 charge tube
* #3 charge tube (at throttle body)
* (please specify type blow off valve desired when ordering so appropriate flange can be fitted)
* Large bar and plate "air to air" intercooler
* Intercooler mounting bracket and hardware
* Reinforced silicone charge tube couplers
* 10 stainless steel T-bolt clamps
* Type 1-3.5 inch fresh air intake system compatible with most flash tuning software
* 2 silicone intake couplers
* 5 stainless steel Intake Clamps
* K & N Cone Style Air Filter
* Mazsport Left and Right Motor Mount Kit and required hardware
* 2 new 780cc Secondary Fuel Injectors

* 20 feet of Silicone Vacuum Hose
* Battery relocation tray and hardware

sweet.
what type of warranties come with each kit? (kit, engine etc.)
do you have regional affiliates who are authorized to do the installs?
what type of maintenance is required?

Scott, great stuff. Have you guys tried your kits with AP tuning or has most of it been done with Int-X?
I am not looking to start another useless Int-x vs AP thread, just wondering.

I will be happy to recommend someone in your area for the install.
Change the oil every 2,000 miles for maximum service life and take 5 minutes to visually inspect things during the oil change. That's about it.

Thanks Jedi! Yes I have used the AP with our kit's but I was using a 3inch intake not the 3.5inch supplied with the kit.

actually if you take the base price, add the fuel pump @$799 http://www.mazsport.net/store/index....ct_detail&p=18
and the injectors @$129 http://www.mazsport.net/store/index....ct_detail&p=84
your back at $6428 and $6928
then if you stick with their Int-X @ $1499 your back to $7927 and $8427 respectively
so really i guess the price cutting was a bit of a reach for me... its just more flexible packaging...... which is always a GOOD thing though!

Actually he stated it is enough to make 300 rwhp, if you add the other stuff then you have a 330-400 kit depending on what you add.
I like the idea of it, you can get his base parts and make an entry level kit, and then in the future add more to hit 400. He basically just broke the kit down some to make an affordable option. Slick marketing... I just don't like that it falls behind the MM kit until around 6300 rpms, doesn't sound like a fun street kit.
The MM also includes Engine management. Tra La La!

again i agree... and for me, the BHR/MM kit can make more than enough power for street or street/track. MY PERSONAL tastes wouldnt lean me towards anything else unless i was building a dedicated track car. and even at that the BHR/MM turbo would be plenty of power for me to learn on for a few years

That down low power will rocket you out of the hole.
From a start you would have to dump your clutch at 6000 rpms or ride it for a bit, other wise grandma's Caddy will already be 5 cars out.
I'm not Condoning street racing, its just nice to have some low end power so you don't have to down shift 3 gears to accelerate. It does look like a good track kit, it would just be frustrating on the road.
Some people bought this car for track and some didn't.

again, glad to see you guys offering more flexibility now. any chance that you would be breaking up the type2 kit in a similar fashion in the future?

you worried about the 0 to 15mph race.. any straight line race is going to produce boost with a clutch release at 4k or more..
but you once again seem to miss the point..
btw, scott since the cat is out of the bag, check you email about the cat!

I never said the kit was bad, just that I prefer to have the extra 50 hp at 4000 rpm, rather than at 7800. Most races are lost in the first 60', but you didn't realize that I guess.
Releasing the clutch at 4000 rpms is a little easier on the drive train than a 6000 rpm launch, which in NA form is what I have to do, with a turbo it would be even more brutal. A kit that would pull me away from that would be nice. I don't do track but like to play around at the 1/4 & 1/8th from time to time.
I don't have to prefer the Mazsport over eveything else in the world do I?

Guys if you would like to have a 310rwhp kit with a quicker spool that's not a problem at all. We can simply put a smaller hot side on the turbo. When you are ordering the kit just let me know how you will be using the vehicle and I will size the hot size accordingly to maximize efficiency in your application. The point here is when you decide your ready for more than 310rwhp you wont have to replace the turbo, or manifold or intercooler etc. simply add to what you already installed!

Rotary , eh?
iTrader: (1)
No you don't but then why would everyone have to, or want to, be beaten over the head with what you think is best?
You should also keep in mind this is Scott's thread for his product release, not a general discussion thread, there are plenty of those around here where you can continue this if you like.
This looks like it will be a great offering from a proven and respected rotary tuner. Everyone on this board should be rejoicing not bickering like this. It wasn't too terribly long ago when people were begging for more options to come to market. They are here and more seem to be coming all the time.
