3 & 4 Rotor Engine Gas Mileage?

3 & 4 Rotor Engine Gas Mileage?
People have been posting their setups for their 3 rotor rx8s and such and one or two 4-rotors, but does anyone have any idea of the gas mileage these engines get say on average? does anyone who has a 3 rotor engine have any comment on how much their gas mileage decreased after the upgrade?
Are we looking at like 10highway with a 3 rotor
maybe like 2-3 with a 4-rotor
Also things such as how highly modified your 3-4 rotor is would also take into account.
The question isn't as much for cost wise, but more towards, how far can i go in a 3-4 rotor before having to stop to fill up again, Example: 2mpg would be locked to track only, 10 would be more likely to still be street driven.
lol i don't want to be like the bugatti veyron which gets 3mpg, or you can floor it to 250 mph for 12 minutes before running out of a full tank of gas. Over that time it will travel 50 miles and get all of 1.9 mpg <-- LOL

The answer is... it depends.
Gearing, Tuning, porting and turbo choice together make up for more than a 40% difference in the mileage you can get out of the engine
What's your main goal? If you have a trailer this is not a problem. If you have to drive to and from the track you could build an engine and squeeze 13\16mpg out of it on a lightweight car with the right 6th gear.

Do you know how many people on this board have even seen a 4-rotor or even 3-rotor? Not many. I wonder what kinda gas mileage the space shuttle gets? I realize I'll never have the money or ability to own one, but I'm just curious. There aren't gas stations out there ya know.

Lousy for the first 10 minutes, then the whole cost at 18,000 miles an hour for 2 weeks really bring the average back up....
Hmn...valid question...i've heard upwards of 20mpg somewhere...anyhow...i dont think its a cost thing, i think its more of a practicality thing. Like..."am i going to take the Prius or the 3 Rotor Rx8) on a road trip... :/ lol
Guy doesn't care what fuel costs, he cares about how far he can drive without refueling. I had a cobra here not too long ago that could only drive 160 miles w/o refueling. He was limited as to what car cruises he could do.
Anyhow 20B is around 18mpg freeway, and probably 16 in the city.
No one here is going to know what a 4 rotor gets. I would assume pretty close to the same..
Just install a bigger fuel cell.

Still thats not bad mileage. thanks guys, it really helps.
Just a estimated guess, 2 rotor -> 3 rotor -> 4 rotor, fuel consumption would just decrease another 25%-ish due to another rotor being added to the engine, but also, minus the turbo for the 4rotor. the few 4rotor setups mentioned here are setup w/o a turbo as far as i know.

I sort of follow the Rolex Series, and the 20B Mazdas seem to get mileage on par with the other cars in their class. Depending on your drifing habits, I think the 15-20 or less is the closest answer to your question. Here's a result from a quick Google search:

Cold rainy day in New Jersey, so I had time to look up a review of the car the 20B was installed in.
The below converts to 14.7 / 22.8 for the 20B in stock tune.
Fuel economy was also a bit of a problem with a hard driven Cosmo, around town, the 20B model would average 6.0km/l or around 16L per 100km and the 13B 7.2km/l (13.8L per 100km). On the highway, those figures improved with the 20B averaging 9.7km/l (10.3L per 100km) and the 13B model 10.5km/l (9.5L per 100km). It was definitely a car for those who didn't mind visiting the petrol station frequently.
