Happy NEWS !!!!!

FINALLY....we received everything. The damaged housing received a cermetB coating from JHB in Calgary (Canada) and we had a damaged rotor so we replaced it and all the rotors apex groove were machined to receive 3mm Apex seals from RX7Specialities also from Calgary and bought all the needed pieces for the rebuilt also from RX7Specialities.

More to come......

That housing looks very nice, just like new!

This is the first time I've been to this thread, so I'd just like to say...damn that 20b is a monster of an engine! I didn't realize just how big it is!

When the non-renesis rotaries blow apex seals, you almost always have damage to the rotor and rotor housing, requiring those parts to be repaired or (usually) replaced. This is because you have a 2mm wide chunk of broken off seal flying around the internals, and at their closest point they come within 1mm of each other...so the seal gets wedged and chews into the other parts. Eventually the pieces get thrown out the peripheral exhaust hole, but not before damage is done.

http://www.rotaryresurrection.com/2n...nt_damage.html

The issue with the renesis is that the seal has a much harder time getting out of the engine. Eventually the pieces will work their way over to the sides of the rotor and get wedged between the rotor and intake/exhaust side ports. This is going to chew the irons up in most cases as well. Since core parts for rennies are not yet cheap or readily accessible on the used market, this means the cost for rebuild will be far higher than that of the older 13b.

Thank you all for the reply and I agree with you RotaryResurrection we were very lucky to find that rotor housing wasn't to much damage but the rotor needed to be replaced.

The next step is to verify, with Racing Beat, if the porting template my friend has in hand if it can be use for the 20B and if yes well....it's gonna be porting time!!! After is to paint the sides and rotors housing. When I'll have pictures I'll post it as soon as I can.

Frank.

Frank.

The 20B uses the same ports as the cosmo RE and FD REW engine, so yes standard porting templates will work fine on the 20b. I have ported one myself.

Don't be so quick to port out the primary port that large. You may find water! There is no need to go that large on the primaries anyways.

Yes, I also agree that is way too large for a primary. There should be a seperate template for it that is about half that size.

I can think of no better way than to revive a 2 year old thread with pics of a motor.

Nice to see it together.
