13b.20b.13B-MSP..HELP

well im new to this forum. i have decided to buy a rx8 because my 240sx wont stop fucking me over good bye car.. BUT anyways im trying to figure this site out and what people do tothere cars but MAN its complicated... SO HELP ME i wanan find a motor i can start small with and work my way up. i have a t3/t4 some 550cc injectors a intercooler a wideband from innovative and a safc controller. SO for god sakes im USING SOME OF MY OLD PARTS..lol... i dont think i can boost the 13B-MSP because its too high compression and the motor is weak... the 13B(<$1500) will DROP right in so i might do that .. and a 20B(>$4000 ) alot of mods but worth it.. i wanna achieve maybe a 400-500hp car ... BUT if i can i wanna turbo the 13b-msp and run minor boost for fun.. so is it possible

Welcome to the forum

You need to find the search button on the command bar.

MazdaManiac 06-08-2007 07:52 PM

The MSP is stronger than the REW. It is the PCM that screws us up.

nycgps 06-09-2007 12:32 AM

dude, MSP is much stronger than REW.

good luck trying to *drop right in* a REW.

oh also, try to use the search function up top. Its very useful. and if you want to learn, thats where you should start.

if you can do everything custom for the 20b swap be looking at 10k+. if you get help look at 20k+

there is no just "drop it in"

I'm gonna do my own custom 4 rotor, I'm thinking on using parts from the 13B-REW engine.. (Rotors, Housing, Etc.) Everybody is doing the regular 13B 3 rotor engine swap or the 20B 3 rotor. I wanna take it to the next level and have a 26B 4 rotor RX8.

Make sure you have a big fuel tank... maybe TWO big fuel tanks. :p:

Do it! Take pictures!

There is absolutely no way you'll control an RX8 with an SAFC. If you think you're going to have a long lasting Renesis is with an Int-X or E-Manage Ultimate.

R Magic 06-09-2007 07:25 PM

The 4 rotor kit has the following:-
1:- Eccentric Shaft
2:- Front counter weight
3:- Rear counter weight
4:- 2 x Centre plates
5:- 2 x Stationary gears (modified)
6:- 2 x Stationary gear carriers
7:- 2 x Stationary gear external oiling mods
8:- Rear main nut
9:- 2 x eccentric shaft end caps

This kit is built with all new parts and also uses genuine Mazda parts, the kit is $9500.00 (NZ) This is a kit only and you will need an experienced engine builder to organize the rest of the parts and engineering and assemble of the 4 rotor engine. $9500 NZ = $6700 US ruffly, I'm guessing it's about a $10,000 engine minimum. $6500 for the KIWI kit, $3000 for the seals, $3000 for the housings and other stuff. Plus some of existed parts, I think $12-13k at most..

keep thinking that

What's to think..? Price?! I'm sure it'll go up once I order parts, but it shouldn't be much higher. Only thing I'm thinking is why no one has done this before?!

mostly because of $$$ issues.

I mean seriously, with enough funds .... I think anything is possible.

Ice Cold RX8 06-11-2007 05:00 PM

Has anyone ever delved into the idea of adding an additional Renesis rotor and housing to create a 3 rotor Renesis? What's involved beyond upgrading engine management, fuel, cooling & lubrication systems, new mounts and a new eccentric shaft? Is this possible?

eviltwinkie 06-11-2007 05:16 PM

Its LEGO housing time all over again!!

On a serious note to the OP...dude we are trying to be nice and not flame you as part of our new kinder and gentler hazing and initiation procedure....

However...please search and read up a bit more before reasking the question. People have come before you wanting the same things and stuff is out there waiting to be found.

As far as rotor grafting...yeah anything can be done with enough money...but just because something can be done does not mean that it should or it will be practical...You would be better served making a "Drop-In" kit for a 20B...But I think the ricans have already got that down to a science...

YayAreaBruh21 06-11-2007 05:28 PM

Its going to be way over the 13k mark. Look deep into it and check it out. Alot of guys in PR have done 3 rotor and its been pricey. You say you want "the next level" and expect to pay less? Your in for one rude awakening.

fd3s_jerry 06-11-2007 05:50 PM

if you want the "next level" you should have just bought an FD rx-7. they outperform the 8, and the e-shaft from the 8 is interchangeable, lighter, and stronger. plus the 7 is actually a performance car. the 8 is more of a fun to drive family car.

a 4-rotor will be very long, with front drive accessories I don't see how it can fit in the existing engine opening between the steering rack and firewall/tunnel :dunno:

the actual engine cost will be a drop in the bucket compared to everything else you'll need to shoehorn it in there and then make it work reliably ...

chickenwafer 06-11-2007 07:47 PM

if you think the Renesis is weaker than the REW then I would suggest to not do the work yourself

bullshit. the "actual engine cost" of a 4 rotor engine is somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-15k. all said and done, having it in the car will be close to 20-25k. not just a "drop in the bucket."

jerry you show me where we can find a 4rotor for that price

edit: nevermind, you're just another fd fanbois

dtorre 06-12-2007 02:53 AM

I was quoted 13K before shipping from Yashiro Iron Works last year when I was interested in a YR26B conversion .... 20k after shipping ><

Sure, if you can deal with owning a 12-15 year-old used car and all the headaches that entails...

fd3s_jerry 06-12-2007 02:12 PM

wait until your car's 12 years old, I'd bet dollars to pesos that you sell the 8 after your first rebuild. and I haven't really had any trouble with the 7 at all, just preventive maintenance and being nice to it. it's still more fun to drive. I'm not hating on the 8, I like it for what it is, but I know what it's not, too. it's not really a performance vehicle, but a fun to drive family car. yeah, it handles, but it's still slow.
