I think this is part of a conspiracy theory. My bet is that one of the tec guys at Greddy is a 350z owner and he deliberately overwrote the maps and when people query for rx8 maps for their turbo kit he sends out 350z maps to blow up rotary engines. His sole purpose is to give the rx8 a bad rep because he is afraid that he might be left behind at some streetlight by a boosted rx8.

I know for a fact that my Greddy kit was one of the very first in the country to be sold. I bought mine through Mazdatrix about a week before they were officially released. I don't have any issues at all with bogging or pinging.

Well, just went and looked at the S/N on my emanage. It's GSC 23531. GReddy isn't open yet, not even 9am PST. So I'll give them a call in about an hour or so.

Not to get off topic but the Z is a very nice car. My brother just bought one and I like it alot. Also not to burst anyones bubble but that car has the potential to make 600 plus on pump gas if you do it up wright. It is the next Supra there will be cars making 1000hp on race fuel with in the next year. No RX-8's with a 13b-MSP will do that anytime soon. I love my car! Also, lets not act like those 350z guys.

Be the better person

benny is who i talked to at GReddy and he was helpful. mine is still being shipped from rotary extreme and he said there were only three that were wrong and he was 99.9% sure they all went to Mazda Trix. I told him i want to be 100% sure since it is my precious rotary engine...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!!
pm me if you need the phone #

I just got off the phone with GReddy and spoke to Benny. The updated map that I posted in my thread is what these jumper settings are for. He said that having the VTEC enabled in this new map is on purpose and NOT to mess with any VTEC settings at all. Also, he said altering the A/F ratios and MAF voltages would be fine if you want to tune those. So in summery, don't play with the jumper settings unless you upload the new map I had posted. I hope that helps.

So...

New map + new (VTEC) switch settings = upgrade/revision?

Wasn't the request for a copy of the stock GReddy RX-8 map? Is this a revision that solves the 4K detonation issue? Is this what the folks will end up with if they send their eManage boxes back to GReddy?

The burning question in my mind is what is the purpose behind enabling VTEC?

The new map I got from Greddy is the latest and greatest they have. It's build date is considered final and is dated 12/30/2004.

Here is the link to download it off my website. You'll have to copy/paste it into your web browser

Maybe they don't have a separate setting for the auxiliary ports opening up? To me that would be the only thing I can think of, kinda makes sense too. It feels similar to vtec when they open up

I have recently spoken with benny over at Greddy he sent me the same map as Philodox. I just picked up the emanage support tool. Will be installing this map to see what happens with the sputter or hesitation at 4-5K rpm. Will keep everyone posted.

so my car sputters around 18-21 percent throttle in any gear. The Check engine light actually starts to blink and these are the trouble codes listed:

ECU #=10
MIL is ON
Vehicle Reports 5 Stored Trouble Code(s)
TC1 -P0300
P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
TC1 -P0300
P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
TC1 -P0300
Trouble code definition not found
Pending Code 1 -P0003--P0003 Fuel Volume Regulator Control Circuit Low
Pending Code 2 -P0204--P0204 Injector Circuit Malfunction - Cylinder 4
Pending Code 3 -P1000--Trouble code definition not found
A code of 0000 means no code

That random misfire is scary not really getting on the car just driving to create some emanage and canscan logs. So what would cause the multiple cylinder misfire bad TPS Sensor? Any Ideas?

As many of you know, I got my Greddy kit from Mazdatrix. It was one of the first few in the country. The only codes I had gotten were "secondary air flow - bad" and "random misfire". Both of which cleared up after I switched back to the stock air pump gasket and new plugs.

new and old emanage fuel maps. The system is in closed loop because of the throttle position. My Canscan logs look ok but i am going out to do another run and i will post those logs here shortly

We are going to investigate the gasket on the air pump and the Spark Plugs are maybe 3 months old.

your plugs could be fouled if the dealer didn't replace them after the flood.

Well, i WENT to greddy today and met Benny in the flesh. Anyway, sounds like the Mazdatrix Kits (Philodox and Me) are definitley of the "old nasty" batch. As soon as i told benny i had the mazdatrix one he immediately suggested i bring it in. So i'm glad Philo has no probs. Philo, what flash is your car? M? or earlier for the ecu?

That may be part of it, mine is M, and i have these bogging issues.

Mike

Mike, my car is "M" flash. No problems here. However, I am going to update the map with the latest and greatest since it's not password protected and I will be able to tune it.

Has anyone considered the bogging could be the result of the high and low fuel maps? With Hondas, when you use an S-AFC on a B18, you get this bog when it switches between maps because its set to run on throttle % and rpms. We solved this with a GReddy electronic boost gauge hooked up to it, so it could run boost dependent - the boost curve was a whole lot smoother.
