XM Sat through factory radio?

I've tried searching and researching.....
Is there a way to get XM radio "hardwired" into the factory system? I'm not down for fm mod, I want the digital quality sound. I want to be able to use the controls on the steering wheel as well.

btw I have an '04 GT if that's needed info

Thanks for the help!!

I battled with this a few weeks ago... There may be other ways, but I couldn't find them. Unless you get the sirus, you wont be able to use your steering wheel buttons.

I hooked mine up(the roadie 2) without the FM mod and the reception was terrible. I went out, bought the FM mod, took my dash and center console apart, and hooked it up through the radio. I just mounted the roadie2 to my left center air vent. The satellite antenna is on the top/center/rear of the car. You can hide pretty much all of the wires to the antenna and splice into the cig lighter for power. It looks pretty good.

FWIW if you were to use your steering wheel buttons for sirus, there is only one line of info. And that kind of sucks.

'04's won't get you the use of the steering wheel buttons either way. You need an '05 head unit, I believe. They're not really easily swappable either (need new wiring iirc).

My end goal is to install this imobile car pc and a touchscreen. Do I need to get the head unit software upgade and pie installed to use the pc interface? Or is that just a pointless step? The imobile pc can use the xm direct satellite receiver.

Thanks again for all the help and quick responses!!

well for now you could get the PIE as an auxiliary input...then when you get the car pc you could add the USB controller to the PIE which allows the steering wheel controls to control programs on your carpc...you could set them up for the internal xm if you'd like but it would require a bit of setup

I use the pie and i love it.

I mounted my antannae inside near the windshield, you can hardle see it. I loose my signal every once in a while, but it's totally worth it, since you can't see it.
