Wierd Central Locking Problem

Hi,

Recently my central locking has started playing up. I cannot lock the car using the keyfob unless I open and close the door up to 10 times!

Sounds wierd but basically after a journey I switch off, get out of the car, close the door, press the lock button and nothing happens. So I open the door briefly, close it again and press the central locking button again. I have to repeat this process up 10 times in some cases until it locks. Very occasionally it will lock first time. I have no issue opening the car using the keyfob, just locking it.

I changed the battery when it started hapenning as I thought this was the most likely cause but it's made no difference.

Could it be a faulty keyfob or something more serious? I daren't take it to the dealer as it could be expensive!

Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks

Thanks for your reply.

I have changed the battery believe it or not but I'm going to try a new keyfob instead and see if that makes a difference.

The reason my number plate is blocking the radiator is because it was either there, in the centre or at the other side...

Check the switchs in the drivers door ( and passenger door)...if it thinks the door is open..the lock won't work. Door ajar light should be on though......
