White Led Bulbs

I usually go to vleds for my leds, but i need some 194 white SMT bulbs for my clear corners. Vleds dont have them. although autoluminatino has them, they are like double the price.

Any suggestions on which kind of bulbs? i know i need 194 but like SMT or high power or...? or where to find the bulbs im looking for.

PIAA makes nice white leds... you'll pay for them.

Hi there. I've had the 194 5-LED SMT from vleds in my clear corners (https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...1&postcount=47).. but just want to let you know that they are HID white... not white (yes there's a big difference).

I live in NJ where fender/corner lights that are "substantially white or amber" are allowed and got hassled by the police for having the hyper whites in there. I had them replaced by PIAA twin white (White/White) LED 194s which is what white should be. Although much more expensive than the vled bulbs (and to be honest, the SMTs had a better spread of light.. although they were arguably causing some glare), I've got no regrets in making the move. I guess if my car were in a car show, I'd put the SMTs back, just for the more "wow" factor.

Now, I contacted the store owner of vleds regarding his availability of white LED 194s and he said all he has are HID whites.. although the 9 LED SMT's are apparently whiter than some of the 5 LEDs. With this route, there are 2 concerns:
  1. not sure if they fit our assembly
  2. the 5 LEDs had allot of glare.. 9 LEDs will DEFINITELY glare

Oh here's what I got in the email:
"All our white LED bulbs have a slight tint of blue to them similar to HID
lighting varying from 6000k to 8000k."

Hope this helps.
