I have done it for show cars but if this is intended for street use I would really suggest against it. The fact that it is illegal doesn't help either. Other than for show use or for child entertainment, I don't see the point of installing video screens, especially not in the visors. That is just asking for trouble. No one puts them there just soley because they are cool. I see all the ghetto people driving around their ghettomobiles with screens everywhere just so they look cool. Too bad they don't realize everyone is laughing at them. Then again I haven't seen a system in a long time that impressed me in any way. My standards are way too high and I did it properly for way too long to change now. The people that have kids and have them in their vehicles out of sight of the driver don't bother me. The only other people that have any business installing them is in a show car on the IASCA or USAC show circuit. Buy a bigger screen for the house instead where you can watch it. You don't need to watch the road when you are on the couch.

Now that being said, yes I have installed screens in the sun visors. I did build competition cars for several years and they were there for show only. It is a very simple and straight forward thing to do. Even installing them in seatbacks is easy. I have never seen another screen install on a street car that is nearly as nice as the way I install them. If you need to stitch anything, you didn't do it very good. This even applies to leather! Since I don't want to assume any responsibility for anyones injuries from an accident related to this install, I am going to withhold any info or tips on how to install them nicely. Just consider it an installers secret.

Sorry to be a dick about it but until I know why they are going there I'm not getting involved.

Though I agree with rotarygod for the most part, I have installed visor monitors in my MX-3 (you can see them on my site).
I used them to display the info from the onboard PC - MP3 player and engine management.
Its nice to use the visor monitor as an additional set of gauges.

I can see using them as gauges serving a useful purpose. I would rather install them a little farther from my face though. The closer they are to you, the greater your eyes have to adjust to focus between what is close to you and what is farther away like the road. I don't even like how close a-pillar gauge pods are. I like the dash distance the best and would love to see some form of heads up display which makes them seem way out in front of the car. Most people aren't trying to install a screen for this purpose though.Too often it is one person trying to out bling- bling his friend.
