i have a stock radio on 9.50 firmware. it was one of the first rx8s and i am looking to upgrade my radio. i have been looking at a few and i know i would like a touch screen radio. i have only found this one MAZDA RX8 in dash stereo radio Car DVD Player GPS Navi bluetooth TV IPOD internet SWE-M7239_Car dvd player GPS navigation Manufactory that i really like! the only problem is i cannot find anywhere to buy this damn thing! can anyone help me find it or suggest a good radio? i also have an iphone with alot of music i wanna play my music through it so that would be a plus! a link to where i can buy one or a radio you would like would help me alot!

woah that price! i actually called the people in my first post and the said 390. 440 with wifi and internet and 500$ shipped. i might be getting that it sounds like a great deal!

OttoNavi has these "kits" for many vehicles, and from what I have gathered they have been nothing but problems, with poor quality control, and an even worse customer support.

 

they only accept by western union or money wire. i am not sure about this anymore. it is very interesting but i don't want to send my money off and never see it again

 

EXACTLY. I've seen this time and time again. And actually, I'm pretty sure we had another member buy one of these and it end poorly. About 10-12 months ago?
HUGE red flag. There's not a chance on this Earth or the next I'd go forward with this.

It's not even anything special man. The Metra kit allows you to install any headunit you want. Several mass-market headunits out there with Android. At least one I know of with WiFi. And that's not even delving into the tablet world...which has been done by several on this message board.

 

get the metra kit for 160ish after shipping then get the pioneer appradio3 (SPH-DA210 DVD version) on ebay for 385 shipped and the iphone cable for 30-40 shipped and finally a ebrake mod for 20.
total = ~600

 

definately looking to pick this up! thanks for the recommendation now by iphone cable you mean the charging cable? and a metra kit? can you link me to the correct one for a mazda 04? i found a new but it is not near 160 like you said

 

Honestly I'd go down to your local stereo shop (not best buy) and talk with them. Let them know what you are looking for and what you have to spend. They will usually give you a few recommendations and have live demos for you to play around with. Wether you purchase from them or not is entirely up to you, but keep in mind the handle most warranty issues and can do the install if it's something you are unable or do not want to do. Just my opinion. The head unit I personally went with is the Pioneer AVH X5500 BHS and have been pretty happy with it. Hope this was helpful.

 

So im looking into upgrading my radio and I have decided to go the Metra dash kit route to eventually get a double DIN/ISO radio. Do you know if the 09 version is compatible with an 04 rx8??
The reason being is that the 09 version of the dash kit is like $150 cheaper than the 04-08 version.
Any help would be great!
